Bachelor of Science (Hons) in International Business Management with Placement

at Anglia Ruskin University - Cambridge Campus United Kingdom

Overview

You know that today’s business world is connected, fast-paced and innovative; that industry needs creative thinkers and new ideas. And you want to graduate with knowledge that’s fresh and relevant. Our International Business Management degree will ensure you do just that.

By choosing ARU you’ll be able to study in Cambridge – a truly international city – spend a semester abroad, and take a placement year in a company of your choice. It’s your chance to design your future.

Employers are looking for graduates who will not only survive, but develop and thrive in a global business environment. Our role is to help you become that person.

We realise that people do business in different ways, and for different reasons. But we also know that some common issues underpin all modern business ventures, such as sustainability, intercultural awareness, globalisation and innovation.

Our BSc (Hons) International Business Management degree focuses on these complex issues, and how you can manage them.

We understand that while you’re here to learn, you’re also laying the foundations for your future career. We want to help you enhance your employability, and we do that in three ways.

Firstly, we host regular visits from employers, guest speakers and business events – helping you build a network for when you graduate.

Throughout your International Business Management degree you’ll also benefit from lectures and seminars on CV preparation, job-hunting, obtaining work experience and more.

And finally, we work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they look for. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – so you can be sure you’re working on projects that reflect the needs and priorities of business.

Study in Cambridge or Chelmsford and gain the knowledge and skills you need to become a police constable.*

You’ll get hands-on experience in our crime scene rooms and mock court rooms, as well as through practical role-playing, case study scenarios, workshops and study trips.

All our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing students follow the College of Policing’s National Policing Curriculum, learning to think like a police officer and developing problem-solving, communication, negotiation, leadership and research skills. These skills will help you rise up the ranks when you join the force, potentially doubling your salary in just seven years.
Policing is growing as a profession. The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and National Police Chiefs Council recently set out a ten-year plan for transforming the police, in order to deal with rapidly changing demands in England and Wales.

As of 2020, taking a pre-join degree will be one of three possible routes into policing as a Police Constable. This route, licensed by the College of Policing, will allow you to follow their curriculum, as well as gaining a wider understanding of law enforcement and the justice sector.

You’ll learn how to tackle the latest challenges facing the police force, work with our Policing Institute for the Eastern Region on cutting-edge research projects, and attend guest lectures by serving officers. Our team of expert lecturers will guide and support you throughout the course.

In Essex alone, the number of police officers grew by 5% from March 2017 to March 2018. Our course will help you stand out as a potential police constable, so you can become fully qualified, and gain Independent Patrol Status, soon after you graduate.*

The future of the police will increasingly feature multi-agency collaboration, or ‘inter-operability’, driven by new forms of technology, evidence-based policing and innovation. Our course will prepare you for these developments, as well as training you to reflect critically and constructively on their implications.

On this course you’ll study the practical and theoretical aspects of modern politics and international relations, and thereby gain insights into our past, present and future on both a local and global scale. You’ll examine relevant political debates from a historical, philosophical and sociological perspective. In doing so, we‘ll go beyond the ‘high politics’ of traditional theories and the workings of parliaments. Instead, you’ll be able to develop your own specialisms in areas such as global diplomacy, international relations, and international issues like climate change; protest movements like Black Lives Matter; the devolution of power away from central government; the politics of the new media; the politics of gender, and the place of race in modern society.

Our specialist modules such as Race, Racism and Cultural Identity, Wrestling with Trump: the WWE and Modern Political Culture, and Politics and Social Media will allow you to engage with contemporary issues, developing a deeper understanding of modern politics.

As a BA (Hons) Politics student at ARU, you’ll learn from expert tutors including historians, sociologists, criminologists and political scientists.

Together, we’ll explore the latest theories, debates and research; examine domestic, European and international themes in politics, and consider the practical implications of political decision-making and policies.

All our Politics students have the opportunity to study in the USA or Canada for a semester, and can apply for funding to help cover the cost. You could also take an optional placement year.

Once you’ve graduated, you might start a career in analysis, journalism or local or international politics, or you could continue to develop your skills with one of our full-time and part-time Masters degrees including our MA International Relations.
