On this course you’ll learn through practice, in our Early Childhood Resource and Research Room and through our optional placement and theoretical modules. Placements are optional and individually tailored to enable you to gain experience in a variety of different types of settings.

You’ll aspire to further your knowledge in the Montessori pedagogy and lead the way in the first ever Montessori Masters degree in the UK. You’ll advance your knowledge of young children’s learning and develop your early years Montessori practice and professionalism. Through the exploration of areas of Montessori in early childhood education and care you’ll enhance your research skills and be one of the first Montessorians to hold a Montessori Masters degree.

You’ll be supported by academics who are also qualified Montessori practitioners offering you a knowledgeable and reflective teaching team. Deepen your knowledge of the three elements of the Montessori triangle: the child; the environment and the teacher. This will take the form of patchwork text, presentations, a reflective journal, research workbook and written reports.

Our new four-year MEng Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering degree course is about combining the mechanical with the electrical. It's been created with a focus on project-based learning, allowing you to take the theory you've learned in class and apply it in a hands-on project module that runs throughout Year 1.

You will study alongside other mechanical engineering students, specialising in mechatronics and robotics manufacturing in your final year and in certain modules throughout your course. Our Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering course leads you through computer-based advanced design, simulation and modelling practice in various topics including computational engineering, fluid dynamics, stress analysis, and industrial management

You’ll benefit from using our workshop and laboratory facilities. These include CAD/CAM and engineering computer modelling centre, industrial-scale CNC milling and lathe machines, metal and plastic rapid prototyping machines, scanning electronic microscope, Instron bi-axial fatigue-testing machine, tensile-testing machine, material-preparation facilities, welding equipment, electronic testing and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generating and testing facilities, wind tunnel, air compressors, steam engine and many more.

The construction industry is one of the most dynamic, diverse and significant in the world. We live, work and play in the built environment, and our Construction Management degree course will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the technology and management involved in its creation.

We'll focus on the key stages and process of planning, construction and maintenance. These range from building design and technology, to resource management and project administration. Designing and building structures like bridges, roads, airports and flood defences demands a high degree of technical skill. Our Civil Engineering BEng course will teach you to approach civil engineering projects competently, responsibly, ethically and safely.

Civil engineering changes our world – from buildings and transport to the environment and civil protection. It covers everything from creative concepts to physical construction and maintenance. Designing and building structures like bridges, roads, airports and flood defences demands a high degree of technical skill.

On our newly designed course your learning will be based around the civil engineering project and hands-on learning, giving you the chance to immediately apply the theory you learn in class to address the challenges of the project. You will learn how to carry out site investigations, select the best materials for the job, analyse and design structures and engineering systems, plan the construction process and assess and mitigate the environmental impact of the project using our specialist workshops and labs. You will learn how to carry out land surveys and use state of the art CAD systems and specialist software to design and analyse complex systems.

When studying our Civil Engineering course, you’ll learn a range of transferable skills, including how to manage projects and contracts; statistics; management techniques; and principles of IT, preparing you for industry work, advising clients, working closely with other engineers and stake holders. You’ll become a creative problem solver and a confident communicator, able to work well independently and in a team.

As you progress through the LLB (Hons) Law course, you’ll have the chance to take optional modules and explore areas of law that are of particular interest to you.

District nurses care for people in their home and in the community.

Our one-year Top-up Degree combines university study with experience in practice with the support of Practice Assessors and Supervisors to enhance your knowledge of working and caring for people in the community.

In particular, you'll focus on population and caseload management; on supporting your patients to achieve and sustain independence; and on caring for those who are either unwell, recovering or at end of life.

As a district nursing student at ARU, you’ll explore how individuals and their families can care for themselves at home, enhancing people’s dignity and reducing hospital admissions. Our course will give you the skills you need to take on this rewarding role, with an understanding of legal and ethical issues.

By the end of the year, you’ll record your qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Community Specialist Practitioner (District Nursing) with a prescribing qualification.
