You’ll aspire to further your knowledge in the Montessori pedagogy and lead the way in the first ever Montessori Masters degree in the UK. Studying our MEng (Hons) Civil and Construction Engineering four-year degree course will give you all the technical skills and intellectual know-how to be a civil engineer in a constantly changing world.

At ARU, our Civil and Construction Engineering course focusses on infrastructure engineering and will give you the practical skills and experience needed to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects. Studying our MEng Civil and Construction Engineering degree course will give you the knowledge and skills in the management of construction projects. You will assess the safety of a structure such as an old building to approve it as safe for others to work on, and provide specifications and calculations for designs.

Using our specialist workshops and labs you will learn how to carry out site investigations, select the best materials for the job, analyse and design structures and engineering systems, plan the construction process and assess and mitigate the environmental impact of the project. You’ll design, analyse, build and test your projects, developing your technical skills and knowledge through hands-on practice, preparing you to hit the ground running as a graduate civil engineer.

The construction industry is one of the most dynamic, diverse and significant in the world. We live, work and play in the built environment, and our Construction Management degree course will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the technology and management involved in its creation.

We'll focus on the key stages and process of planning, construction and maintenance. These range from building design and technology, to resource management and project administration. Students completing an IMechE accredited degree are deemed to have met, part or all, of the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and are in a strong position to move on to achieve professional engineering status after a period of initial professional development in industry. The MSc will meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Accredited MSc graduates who also have a BEng (Hons) accredited for CEng will be able to show that they have satisfied the educational base for CEng registration.

It should be noted that graduates from an accredited MSc programme who do not also have an appropriately accredited Honors degree will not be regarded as having the exemplifying qualifications for professional registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council; they will need to have their first qualification individually assessed through the Individual Case Procedure if they wish to progress to CEng.

Policing is growing as a profession. The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and National Police Chiefs Council recently set out a ten-year plan for transforming the police, in order to deal with rapidly changing demands in England and Wales.

As of 2020, taking a pre-join degree will be one of three possible routes into policing as a Police Constable. This route, licensed by the College of Policing, will allow you to follow their curriculum, as well as gaining a wider understanding of law enforcement and the justice sector.

You’ll learn how to tackle the latest challenges facing the police force, work with our Policing Institute for the Eastern Region on cutting-edge research projects, and attend guest lectures by serving officers. Our team of expert lecturers will guide and support you throughout the course.

In Essex alone, the number of police officers grew by 5% from March 2017 to March 2018. Our course will help you stand out as a potential police constable, so you can become fully qualified, and gain Independent Patrol Status, soon after you graduate.*
