If you hope to use your legal skills in other areas – such as business, finance, policy making or public service – our law course will give you the transferable skills you need.  

Many of our students choose to study law because they’re motivated by the idea of helping people. And so, from your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our law clinics in Cambridge or Chelmsford. With support from qualified solicitors, you’ll advise members of the public on legal issues.

As you move into Year 2, you can also take part in our mentoring scheme, and get advice and guidance from a legal professional

It’s well worth joining our student Law Society, too. They take part in national competitions such as Mooting, and have a track record of success. It could be a great achievement to add to your CV.

All this practical experience is, of course, backed up by classroom teaching. Our lecturers combine academic modules with those that focus on areas of professional practice, such as human rights law.

As you progress through the LLB (Hons) Law course, you’ll have the chance to take optional modules and explore areas of law that are of particular interest to you.

Our BEng (Hons) Electronics and Robotics is designed to put you at the forefront of today’s engineering world.

Electronics and robotics engineers are required to think originally and critically; work innovatively, creatively and sustainably; and consider the social, commercial, legal and environmental impacts of their work. Throughout the course, you’ll have opportunities to practice these skills, making you well-prepared to enter the workplace when you graduate.You’ll gain experience of every aspect of the development of smart connected electronics and robotics systems today, helping you to discover where your talents and interests lie and determine how you want to use your degree.

The construction industry is one of the most dynamic, diverse and significant in the world. We live, work and play in the built environment, and our Construction Management degree course will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the technology and management involved in its creation.

We'll focus on the key stages and process of planning, construction and maintenance. These range from building design and technology, to resource management and project administration. You’ll learn about regulatory, legal and economic frameworks, the latest thinking in sustainability, and developments in digital technologies and Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Practical experience comes in the form of a week-long residential visit where you’ll take part in the construction of an iconic building or structure – learning management and construction trade skills along the way.

Caring for acutely ill adults is a demanding and important role, and we’ll help you develop the skills and expertise to practise effectively and compassionately. You’ll learn how to provide specialist clinical care while at the same time transforming your existing qualification/s into a BSc (Hons) degree.

Choose to study in Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough, alongside other students with a particular interest in this area. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other. Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that affect the care of acutely ill adults. You’ll deepen your leadership skills, improve your decision-making, and increase your ability to support and develop others in their work. Our Civil and Structural Engineering four-year degree course will give you all the technical skills and intellectual know-how to be a civil engineer in a constantly changing world.

Our MEng course focusses on infrastructure engineering and will give you the practical skills and experience needed to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects. You’ll develop crucial mathematical, technical and design skills that all civil engineers need, while taking a more holistic view of the overall design of a built environment which is resilient to future challenges.

With our newly designed courses your learning will be based around the civil engineering project, giving you the chance to immediately apply the theory you learn in class to the challenges of the project.

Studying our MEng Civil and Structural Engineering degree course will give you the knowledge and skills in the management of construction projects. You will assess the safety of a structure such as an old building to approve it as safe for others to work on, and provide specifications and calculations for designs.

Using our specialist workshops and labs you will learn how to carry out site investigations, select the best materials for the job, analyse and design structures and engineering systems, plan the construction process and assess and mitigate the environmental impact of the project. You’ll design, analyse, build and test your projects, developing your technical skills and knowledge through hands-on practice, preparing you to hit the ground running as a graduate civil engineer.

Our facilities are the perfect places to test and research different materials and designs. Throughout your engineering degree, you’ll work in specialist labs for geotechnics, hydraulics, structures, engineering materials and concrete testing. You'll go out on site visits, and hear guest lecturers from industry. You might even want to enhance your skills and CV while you study.
