Overview
This BSc provides an entry point into a number of career paths in the Health and Social Care sectors. It is designed to allow students to pursue and apply knowledge and understanding of health and social care following a systematic approach to evidence based practice. Applied research is embedded throughout, supported by objective observation and critical analysis.
It is considered that consistent and high-quality education and learning challenges the status quo within practice and encourages reflection on and in practice, which inspires practice confidence and service enhancement and improvement.
The degree includes opportunities to carry out research in work placements, while studying, so supporting post graduate career opportunities. It provides an opportunity to bolster CVs and build networks in practice. This flexible, learner-centred programme will provide opportunities for those working within, or looking for a career, in Health and Social Care to not only critically reflect on and evaluate their own practice and that of others, but also to enable a critical review of the strategic position of provision, thus ensuring this is contextually ‘fit for purpose’ and sustainable for future delivery demands.

History is essential in understanding what the past means for us in the twenty-first century. Here at BGU, you won’t just study history through documents, you’ll learn through placements, site visits and the archives and museums that the ancient city of Lincoln has to offer. Discover the ages in a dynamic and exciting way; through words, images, buildings and artefacts.
Throughout the course, you will discover a number of the modules which take a more thematic approach where you may explore critical issues such as community and public history, local history or war and commemoration. Although questions of technological advances are important, the study of military history is more than just learning about weapons and battles. Our Military History programme is designed to offer you a course of critical historical study with a significant focus on the scope and chronological development, experience and impact of conflict from the medieval period through to the present day and across a breadth of geographical situations. It aims to equip you with a range of critical and analytical skills through a wide-ranging study of the incidence, formation and operation of military institutions and organizational structures in naval, land-based, airborne and civilian contexts.
The course will engage you in understanding the wider social, ethical and political context of war. You will engage in real historical research, working side-by-side with members of academic staff and also during your final year when working on your personal research-based dissertation. You will gain skills that will help you to research and analyse sources and data, and to construct and defend thought provoking arguments.
You will encounter a wider variety of historical study as you participate in modules, and in learning activities shared by students following other history-based pathways, including our pre-existing single honours History programme. The significant focus on Military History is enhanced during the final year of study through a Special Subject module and a personal research-based dissertation.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Drama with Foundation Year
The BA (Hons) Drama focuses on contemporary drama – creating, adapting, devising and developing new work with fresh ideas. The ultimate goal of the programme is not to train actors, however, a substantial amount of acting is part of the programme at all levels, and a Level 4 module, Acting Skills, which focuses on Stanislavski’s acting techniques, is meant to lay a firm foundation for this. And because we believe that there is more into drama than acting, you will acquire a variety of skills – intellectual, practical and transferable skills – that can prepare you for the life after your programme at BGU. You will have the opportunity to take part in productions throughout your time, which will enrich and enhance your experience at BGU. By the end of the course, you’ll leave us equipped with a wide range of transferable skills, which can be taken to a broad set of public, private, commercial and third-sector settings.
In addition to our full-time and part-time staff, we bring in specialist practitioners to all our drama degree programmes. This means that we can offer an up-to-date and relevant professional perspective. Our specialist practitioners offer students the chance to work alongside professional companies and take part in local and national festivals. Elements of enterprise and problem-solving, which are invaluable assets in the employment market, are central to our drama courses. As well as performance skills, you’ll develop good communication skills, confidence and resourcefulness.
The programme will equip you with analytical skills, enabling you to contribute to academic debates on drama, theatre and performance.
