The production and utilisation of energy is a key global issue. Governments and industry are becoming increasingly aware of balancing energy production and utilisation with the need to be environmentally conscious and energy efficient.

This course addresses energy production, storage and utilisation. Develop your understanding of the production and efficient use of conventional and renewable energy sources for power generation, and modern energy storage solutions, complemented with elements of energy economics. You will gain a strong understanding of key principles in engineering, mechanics, electricals and electronics, and will explore specialist topics in modules including Sustainable Buildings, Energy for Transport Applications and Low Carbon Energy Technology.

You will have the opportunity to gain industry experience by undertaking an optional work placement. Recent placements have taken place at companies such as Cummins, Network Rail and Caterpillar. We also place a strong focus on employability through industry relevant modules, including Energy Economics and Policy and Project Management.

Graduates of this course go on to a vast range of careers in production, utilisation, energy storage and management, design, research and development, environment control and policy making.

Studying Politics and International Relations at DMU offers students a dynamic experience, ranging from understanding theoretical ideas that underpin the way the world works to experiences beyond the classroom and engaging with real-world projects. On the Politics pathway, you can take modules that deal with British Politics beyond Westminster, the politics of the Americas, race, identity and class in the City and the politics of sustainable futures. On the International Relations pathway, you will focus on global inequalities and development, security and peace issues and international crisis management. All students have the chance to undertake a final project on a subject of their own choice.

In this course you will learn to evaluate a variety of advanced quantitative and econometric techniques, and be able to effectively solve economic problems using data application tools. This includes applying knowledge to a range of specialised areas within economics using econometric techniques.

Mechatronics covers the integration of mechanical, electronic and intelligent control sub-systems to realise a complete system, which may be a product, machine or process. The multidisciplinary nature of Mechatronics employs design principles, processes, models, toolsets and philosophy unique to Mechatronics Engineers which enable the design and development of simpler, more economical and reliable systems. Mechatronics engineers are in short supply, and enjoy highly versatile careers due to their multidisciplinary skills.

Our Intelligent Systems MSc provides you with knowledge of the various models of computational intelligence, an insight into their theoretical basis, and the skills to apply the associated techniques to a wide variety of industry problems.
