Exploring primarily modern and contemporary history, our course is diverse, international in focus and innovative. Reflecting the globalised world we live in, the curriculum covers a wide range of European and non-European histories and explores topics such as colonialism, decolonisation, immigration, ethnic minorities and gender.

This course will hone your ability to absorb, communicate and critically analyse complex information. As you progress through the course, we’ll challenge you with more in-depth explorations and you can deepen your own historical interests. You’ll be supported by a passionate teaching team who are leading experts in their fields and provide a dynamic learning environment with a variety teaching and assessment methods.

You will learn about British, South Asian, European, African and North and South American history and also discover unique specialist topics such as history of photography and history of sport and leisure. You can also select a route through this degree in English Literature or Education.

Accredited by the Royal Society of Biology, this research-informed course is ideal for careers in the medical and healthcare professions or laboratory science. It integrates scientific research and clinical skills to develop your understanding of the human body in health and disease.

You will be taught by experienced, research-active academics and clinical experts who will present the latest advances in medicine and science, and study a range of topics, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Inflammation and Immunobiology, Evidence Based Medicine and Clinical Perspectives, Cancer Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Nutrition through the lifespan. You will get practical experience of accounting and finance tools, techniques, databases, and research skills. The programme leads with three core taught modules: Contemporary Issues in International Financial Reporting, Evaluation of Management Accounting, and Applied Corporate Finance. You will also undertake a Research Methods module which develops and enhances your research skills, and helps prepare you for your dissertation. In the second term, you will learn about Portfolio Management and undertake Applied Trading using the financial databases in our Trading Room, simulating the practical aspects of investment and trading.

This course will explore these questions while also examining some of the principles and theories that can help us to answer them.
