You will develop your programming and systems analysis know-how by studying modules such as Object-Oriented Programming and Systems Analysis and Design, while also growing a robust skillset in practical areas including E-Commerce Software and Database Systems and Design.  

In your final semester, you will work on your individual project, with the support of an academic supervisor, giving you the opportunity to produce a substantial piece of work on a topic of your choice.

You will be taught by experts from the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility, which is internationally recognised for applied research expertise, ensuring exposure to the most recent developments in both the theory and practice of modern computing.

You can apply even if you have no previous experience in computing, but you will need to demonstrate some aptitude for logical analysis.

Interior Design challenges us to reimagine existing interiors as well as challenge the idea of ‘space’ to create innovative and experiential spaces. It focuses on the way people interact within these environments, considering comfort, usability, effectiveness, aesthetics and emotional connection.

On this course you’ll explore the regeneration and adaptation of real buildings and sites and learn how to turn old commercial premises into exciting new spaces for exhibition, retail, leisure, eating and socialising purposes. You’ll develop visual communication skills in drawing, 3D modelling, computing, video-modelscope, computer-aided design (CAD) and virtual reality. Your work will respond to future global challenges and reflect the importance of sustainability and inclusivity in contemporary interior design.

You’ll also learn about the importance of design cultures and heritage, and culture and context. This solid foundation will enable you to develop your own personal style and design identity and, as you grow in confidence, you’ll become increasingly autonomous as you pursue individual design projects.

As the effects of climate change are increasingly felt, the drive towards more energy efficient buildings is intensifying. Sustainable buildings need not be technologically complex, but a high level of sophistication in design procedures and performance analysis is required.

Accredited by both the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Energy Institute, this programme will allow you to develop an understanding of building physics and acquire skills in building simulation, with an emphasis on sustainability. The curriculum covers the expansive variety of cultural events. During the course you will learn what it takes to organise community-based celebrations, local events, established festival networks, high art festivals, live music events, and large-scale international events. You could work with organisations such as the British Arts Festivals Association, Festival Republic (the company behind Latitude and Reading festivals), U-Live or The Spark Festival, a children’s art festival. Through guest lectures and workshops, you will also have opportunities to meet and network with professionals from the cultural events industry.

It tackles a number of broader issues that impact on diplomatic processes, such as the way in which states operate in regional organisations such as the European Union, the threat of organised crime and terrorism and the role of multinational corporations and companies.
