You’ll be able to take part in a collaborative consultancy project with businesses in the Leicester area and simulate a new venture creation using SimVenture software. You will also have the opportunity to pick the optional final year module, Venture Creation Project, where you will get to create a feasible and compelling solution to a new business venture within a specific market and pitch your idea to a panel consisting of staff, experienced entrepreneurs and potential investors.

The English Language Teaching MA programme bridges theoretical knowledge of language teaching and learning, with practical classroom experience. You will graduate with both the practical skills and advanced theoretical understanding to succeed as an English Language teacher at all levels, from primary and secondary schools to universities and English Language schools, both in the UK and overseas.

Throughout the course you will hone your theoretical and analytical abilities, examining research into language teaching and learning and its implications for educators. The Global Health MSc course is a new and innovative learning opportunity offering a balanced blend of knowledge and skills in regard to addressing global health challenges and public health issues. Underpinned by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the course will provide opportunities for you to develop transferable skills to apply for careers working with global communities both internationally and in the UK.

Students will undertake a range of modules including: Introduction to Global Health, Critical Issues in Global Health, Global Health skills, Researching Global Health and Global Health Dissertation. The course will be delivered by staff with expertise from a range of backgrounds including both practice and research.

The course will provide opportunities for students to acquire interdisciplinary skills, providing them with the tools to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. To enable students to further develop their skills, they may have opportunities for volunteering (subject to availability) with diverse communities both nationally and globally through DMU Local and DMU Square Mile

Interior Design challenges us to reimagine existing interiors as well as challenge the idea of ‘space’ to create innovative and experiential spaces. It focuses on the way people interact within these environments, considering comfort, usability, effectiveness, aesthetics and emotional connection.

On this course you’ll explore the regeneration and adaptation of real buildings and sites and learn how to turn old commercial premises into exciting new spaces for exhibition, retail, leisure, eating and socialising purposes. You’ll develop visual communication skills in drawing, 3D modelling, computing, video-modelscope, computer-aided design (CAD) and virtual reality. Your work will respond to future global challenges and reflect the importance of sustainability and inclusivity in contemporary interior design.

You’ll also learn about the importance of design cultures and heritage, and culture and context. This solid foundation will enable you to develop your own personal style and design identity and, as you grow in confidence, you’ll become increasingly autonomous as you pursue individual design projects.

Our course encompasses two distinct practical themes - concept art and comic art, both of which focus on fundamental, traditional art skills and contemporary digital techniques.

In concept art you will be helped to master a range of industry-focused tools and techniques for developing pre-production, production and post-production art for the film and video game industries. In comic art you will develop a practical understanding of idea generation, visual storytelling and visual communication.

These two themes mean you will access a wide range of creative possibilities and opportunities. They are underpinned by contextual studies to inform and enhance your practice through an exploration of the historical, cultural and social contexts of the wider world of print and web-based comic arts, graphic novels and visual communication.

The course features regular guest lectures and workshops, giving you an opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to design successful content. Our studio culture encourages peer collaboration and networking with industry professionals to support you as you create your portfolio.
