Our Architecture MArch program is designed to respond to contemporary issues in the industry, grounded in both theory and professional practice. Our design studios are delivered through advanced, research-by-design led units and offer a range of specialist pathways for you to develop an independent and critical position on architecture. Studio options range from high-density housing to sustainable futures, and advanced material investigations. Photography is the dominant visual medium of our day. It therefore opens doors to a wide range of exciting career paths, from practicing as a fine artist and freelancing across the commercial sector, to collaborating with the design, marketing and fashion industries.

On this course you’ll discover the full breath of the field of photography. Explore the history of photographic images, moving image, contextual studies and digital media, with professional practice at the heart of your learning. You’ll learn in industry-standard facilities, developing technical skills in various technologies with support from expert tutors. Work on live external client briefs and learn how to curate and exhibit your work to a professional standard.

You’ll create meaningful content that responds to contemporary global concerns and you are encouraged to be incredibly creative and experimental in your approach. Fine Art is the creation and the study of visual art. It educates and inspires students to pursue a career as an artist or to follow a wide range of other creative practices and career pathways associated with art and creativity.

Our course gives you the flexibility to experiment across a range of specialist disciplines which include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, video, photography, digital media and installation art.

When you join us, you will study options in painting, sculpture, printmaking, video and photography, while also studying drawing and contextual and professional studies.

As you progress into year two you’ll develop your individual studio practice in one or more of these areas. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore a range of approaches to fine art via projects, workshops and self-directed study.

As part of the global fashion industry, the fashion stylist and communicator creates visual stories, employs technologies and exploits promotional platforms. You’ll learn how to engage with audiences and tell ‘style stories’ to transform fashion products from just objects into modern must-have trends.

You’ll become proficient in visual research, illustration and storyboarding, and project management. You’ll work collaboratively with peers and industry experts and foster a network of future career contacts and opportunities.

This course incorporates many contemporary arts disciplines, such as acting, dance, voice, physical theatre, music theatre, sound design and digital video. It celebrates and investigates the possibilities of live and digital arts in a range of performance contexts, from the traditional to the avant-garde.

With a focus on making performance, you can tailor your studies to your own passions and aspirations in areas such as contemporary performance, digital performance and applied arts and education. You will be supported to develop as an innovative artist able to create, perform and manage yourself, and others, within the national and international performing arts industries.

The course is designed to enable flexibility to allow you to focus on specialist areas of your choice, which include music journalism, lifestyle and sports while also preparing you to challenge the status quo. Throughout the degree, you will be encouraged to focus on core issues of social equality, social justice, protest and marginalised communities in the UK.

You will learn the traditional core skills of researching, interviewing, writing and web-publishing, and gain multimedia skills within video and audio production. Visual Effects BSc has been developed in consultation with the industry to deliver skills relative to the production of visual effects (VFX) across a range of contemporary media. The use of VFX is commonplace within broadcast productions, film and animation, video games, and in advertising. This is reflected in the scope of this course as it pulls from a number of disciplines including film, special effects, animation and 3D, to complement the interdisciplinarity of the subject.

This course also encourages you to develop your creative flair and understanding of industry-standard software to create your own 3D content for use in film and television projects.

As an integral part of the multibillion-pound film and television industry, studying the creative and technical skills used in VFX can open up extensive career prospects.

Our graduates have gone on to work in roles such as compositors and matte painters, as well as wider media-based roles such as colourists and finishers.

A rapidly expanding field worldwide, Psychological Well-being evaluates the factors that characterise and influence mental health and wellbeing, nurturing your understanding of the cultural, social and economic contexts in which they develop.

Many of our experienced academic team have expertise in the specific domains of wellbeing, which are embedded within the course, including developmental psychology, occupational psychology, health psychology, clinical psychology, counselling psychology and cognitive/biological psychology.

Benefit from some sessions which are delivered by practitioner psychologists who hold registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Teaching facilities include dedicated laboratory and practical work areas, an observation suite and a vision research laboratory.
