This degree will prepare you for a career working with children, young people and their families in a variety of settings across health, social care, education and youth justice.

You will have two work placements with our partner organisations, giving you the opportunity to put theory into practice. Placements will be in settings such as youth justice, early intervention, health services, schools and children's centres. We also give you the option to find your own placement with children and young people in a field you feel personally passionately about.

You'll develop a knowledge of social pedagogy practice, an inclusive and holistic approach to wellbeing, learning and growth. This degree is approved by the Social Pedagogy Professional Association (SPPA).

You will learn about children's law and rights and the importance of safeguarding children and young people. You'll also study child development, relationships, ethics and diversity and relationship-based professional practice.

During your three years, you will benefit from the expertise of lecturers and professionals from a number of different disciplines. You will be encouraged to explore different ways of working through creative workshops whilst developing your employability skills. Your research skills and creative abilities will be developed to produce exciting ideas to benefit children, young people and their families. This course offers a degree and a professional midwifery qualification. You'll graduate ready to enter the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and register as a qualified midwife.

Placements are available in maternity units in hospital and community settings.

Midwifery students not only have the use of the new Simulated Learning and Clinical Skills suite but have a dedicated Midwifery Skills space. This flexible learning space can be adapted to be a home-from-home or hospital environment, enabling students to gain confidence in a variety of settings.

This three-year masters course has been designed for graduates who would like to gain the knowledge, skills and values necessary to register as midwives on the Nursing and Midwifery Council's (NMC) professional register. This is an NMC approved course.
