This hands-on course studies the science that underpins sports participation and how the body's performance can be improved. Topics include anatomy, biomechanics, nutrition, physiology and psychology. You'll learn to monitor and assess health, fitness and performance.

You'll be able to tailor your studies to your own interests and career goals. There is an option to study sports injuries and a project/ dissertation on a selected topic.

You will be trained in science research methods and learn about the techniques used in molecular biology. You will study the biology of disease, tumour biology, immunology, molecular oncology, haematological malignancy, plus diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for cancer.

In addition to an understanding of the principles and practice of core topics in medical science, you will gain in-depth knowledge of oncology topics and their relationship to other medical disciplines.

You will study good measurement and scientific practice and the evaluation and interpretation of data. This course offers a critical awareness of current developments and future trends in cryptography, network security and mobile/wireless security. You will explore techniques and technologies to combat threats such as malware, social engineering, data leakage or zero-day attacks, based on understanding secure authentication mechanisms, access control, intrusion detection, information security policies and user education. You'll study civil engineering subjects, such as structures, hydraulics, geotechnics, construction materials, mathematics and surveying. You'll also study the design and construction of sustainable infrastructures, focusing on water engineering, transport, highway and the energy sector.

You'll work in specialist laboratories, including concrete, hydraulics, materials, soils and structures, and experience real-life scenarios through site visits and field trips.

Practical work includes surveying, model-making, engineering drawing and computer-aided design. You'll also gain skills in project and business management.
