On this course, you'll evaluate many of society's current issues and learn how psychology and criminology can raise questions and find answers.

You'll gain a deeper insight into the human mind and behaviour, develop an understanding of how we behave, think and interact, and study how we respond to crime, criminal behaviour and victimisation. You'll find out why individuals offend, how their crimes affect society and how the criminal justice system operates.

Throughout the degree, you'll develop skills valued by employers, such as teamwork, communication, time and task management skills, statistical analysis of data, problem-solving and the ability to critically evaluate evidence.

Are you looking for a course that prepares you for the demands of a career in journalism? By studying journalism at Kingston, you'll develop skills in digital journalism, mobile reporting, video and social media, news and feature writing. You'll also study the context of journalism within society.

This degree can be tailored to your interests and career goals. Subjects include broadcast journalism, data journalism, magazine journalism, visual storytelling, or international, business, fashion or sports journalism. You'll have the opportunity to produce your own live digital and print publications. Core subjects include news production, video, layout, ethics and media law. There's also the opportunity to pursue a research project and to study abroad at one of our partner universities.

The aim of the User Experience Design MSc course is to equip you with the behavioural theory, design practice and technology know-how that is necessary for a career as interaction designer, usability engineer, user researcher, or head of user experience. It focuses upon the analysis, design, prototyping and evaluation of multimedia, multi-modal, and multi-platform user interfaces that are easy to use and support a great user experience.

Each taught module guides students through a UX project – to optimise an interaction, to innovate a digital lifestyle, to create a persuasive product, and to collaborate on the development of virtual reality. Each project provides opportunities to analyse, design, prototype and evaluate cutting-edge technologies, follow industry trends and apply contemporary theories. A final "capstone" project completes the student's portfolio.

This course was developed in consultation with our industry panel, which includes Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, DreamWorks and Samsung Design Europe. All the modules are taught by practising journalists with a range of experience and contacts. This course studies anatomy, physiology, energy metabolism, nutrition, sport and exercise psychology and other related subjects. You'll examine the promotion of exercise and nutrition to improve people's physical and mental health.

Through optional modules in Year 3, you can focus on nutrition, sport and exercise science or a combination, including contemporary issues in food and nutrition, or ergogenic aids and extreme environments, making your degree bespoke to you. The four-year sandwich route has a year's industry-related work experience.

On this course, you'll study how computers can be used to prevent and solve crime. You'll develop web technology programming skills and study specialised tools and operating system environments. You'll examine encryption algorithms, public-key cryptography, network security, endpoint security and digital forensics. Through research and development projects you'll be able to showcase your knowledge and skills to employers. Project themes include security and vulnerability analysis, mobile app security and cyber intelligence analysis.

Practical studies include ethical hacking (such as password cracking, vulnerability scanning, social engineering and system exploits) and Security Operations Centre (SOC) functions, such as threat intelligence, threat hunting, SIEMs and incident response.

Quantity surveyors play a key role in the construction industry, ensuring that development costs are appropriately and accurately managed. Kingston University is a long-established Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors partnership university, and this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to start you on a career that offers enormous scope for team working, travel and financial rewards.

Whatever your first degree, this course will help you apply your skills and abilities to the quantity surveying profession. Through project and team work, you will develop knowledge and understanding of procurement, construction contracts, construction economics and cost planning. You will also be trained in research methodology. Through a dissertation (research project), you will be able to focus on an area of interest, gaining valuable research skills. You will develop a range of professional skills to prepare you for your career, including problem solving and organisation, data collation, review and synopsis, time management and computing.

On this practical course, you'll develop practical coaching skills as well as studying the science behind effective coaching, performance, leadership and sports analysis. You'll have access to sophisticated equipment to measure the physiological responses to exercise and analyse sports movements and skills.

Modules cover psychology, motivation, human physiology, anatomy, biomechanics and notational analysis. A project or dissertation on a selected topic will develop your independent learning skills.

Please note this course doesn't offer specific professional coaching qualifications but does provide the scientific knowledge to achieve qualification up to United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level 3/4.

This course explores the way societies understand crime and deviance and how they seek to secure social order, social justice and social control. Across the course, you'll consider how cultural and social values, life experiences and social inequalities are shaped by the social and global environments. You'll consider how practices and attitudes of policing respond to social events and shifts in cultural attitudes and consider the ways the media can influence individuals' perceptions of crime and its causes.

You'll also study the criminal justice system in England and Wales, explore issues of discrimination in the criminal justice system and how social structures and institutions can disadvantage and marginalise groups in society. And you'll draw global comparisons, considering the ways in which protests, and political action, criminal activity, and policing, transcend national borders.

The course also offers opportunities for you to gain valuable work experience with victim support agencies, advocacy groups, justice campaigns, international charities and NGOs via a work placement module.
