This course, one of a suite of digital media courses, enables you to study professional digital media practice in a microstudio environment with a focus on the design skills necessary for the field of games development. Through a student-centred, project-based curriculum, you will work as a games designer to develop your specialist skills while working as part of an interdisciplinary team with students from across the full programme.

The philosophy of the Environmental Management MSc programmes centres on the need for new environmental professionals: people with a strong cross-disciplinary understanding of the societal, economic, and environmental challenges posed by the emerging sustainable environmental management agenda.

The course aims to provide you with the in-depth knowledge and the essential practical and evaluative skills needed to give leadership for low carbon, resource efficient, sustainable futures in diverse global contexts. • Environmental Management MSc – this core pathway explores the rationale behind the exploitation of natural environments. It provides you with detailed knowledge and understanding of the important relationships between sustainable environmental management and natural ecosystems and the value of adopting an integrated approach to studying both.
• Environmental Management (Energy) MSc – this pathway is timely, nationally and internationally relevant, given the world's energy needs, as well as the surrounding political debates regarding fossil fuels and increasingly, renewables, which form such an essential component of the world's existence.

Chemical analysis plays a role in virtually all aspects of everyday life throughout the world. With analytical techniques and instrumentation becoming evermore sophisticated, there is an increasing demand for qualified analytical chemists. This industrially relevant course will provide you with a strong background in the theory of analytical techniques and give you the ability to apply these techniques to complex analytical problems.

You will study good measurement and scientific practice and the evaluation and interpretation of data. You will also develop skills to prepare you for your career, including problem solving, organisation, data collation, review and synopsis, time management and teamwork. Your independent project can be an excellent selling point when looking for a job promotion; you may be offered a placement within industry to carry it out. Past projects have looked at dust sources at Hampton Court Palace, determination of Hexavalent chromium, thermo-responsive polymers for water purification and radiochemical investigation of uranium 232.

Cyber security, the umbrella term for computer, network and information security is of increasing importance – new legislation, technologies, vulnerabilities and threats necessitate frequent system updates.

This course offers a critical awareness of current developments and future trends in cryptography, network security and mobile/wireless security. You will explore techniques and technologies to combat threats such as malware, social engineering, data leakage or zero-day attacks, based on understanding secure authentication mechanisms, access control, intrusion detection, information security policies and user education. A project/dissertation will enable you to study an area of interest in depth. It can be an excellent selling point.

This course offers a cross-disciplinary insight into the changing landscape of the media industries from mass communication to the new digital age.

The course nurtures and builds on your individual experience as a media user or amateur content creator, but it also enhances your awareness and understanding of how media are shaping the world we live in today, and how humanity will evolve within Artificial Intelligence and environmental concerns.

Media studies have been described as "the defining subject of our age". So when you choose this Media and Communications MA, you will be developing your professional portfolio of media and communication projects. Lecturers on the course have wide experience in the forensics sector and many have worked either as forensic scientists or as expert witnesses. They are also actively engaged in forensic research, and are supported by visiting speakers from leading forensic consultancies.
