This course explores current trends in chemical, biological and biotechnological therapeutics and examines the latest technologies in the pharmaceutical industry. You will gain an understanding of processes used in clinical trials and in the development, manufacture and regulation of medicines. Through an independent research project, you will study an area of interest in depth. Examples of projects include: medicinal chemistry (eg. synthesis of anti-cancer compounds and natural products), pharmaceutical technology (eg. optimisation of tablet manufacture and formulation), and clinical pharmacy (eg. pharmacovigilance, clinical trial and medicines regulations).

This course examines the causes and consequences of crime, crime prevention, ways to limit the harm caused by crime and the workings of the criminal justice system (including policing and punishment).

Reflecting the real-life relevance of this degree, the course includes court observations, research and case studies.

You'll study individual motivations, psychological influences and the social, cultural and political environments that surround crime. There are advanced modules on the context of crime, criminalisation and investigation, criminal behaviour and therapy. You can also explore your area of interest in greater depth in your dissertation project.

• Environmental Management MSc – this core pathway explores the rationale behind the exploitation of natural environments. It provides you with detailed knowledge and understanding of the important relationships between sustainable environmental management and natural ecosystems and the value of adopting an integrated approach to studying both.
• Environmental Management (Energy) MSc – this pathway is timely, nationally and internationally relevant, given the world's energy needs, as well as the surrounding political debates regarding fossil fuels and increasingly, renewables, which form such an essential component of the world's existence.

The recent evolution of Internet services, with video representing more than 80% of the data traffic, and the growth of on-demand video streaming (as offered by YouTube, Netflix, Amazon) and live streaming (as offered by Facebook, Twitch, etc.) require new professional roles. The parallel evolution of wireless networks (with 5G and in particular the Internet of Things paradigm) requires strong knowledge of the latest wireless communications strategies and standards for such professional roles.

The MSc Course in Mobile Networks and Media Streaming will address both areas above and the graduates will be able to apply for jobs in the wide market opened by such evolution.

The overarching aim of the MSc Mobile Networks and Media Streaming programme is to provide practically based education and training for students seeking employment in the areas of networking, media streaming, and wireless communications. This course is ideal if you're interested in film and creative industry careers beyond production, such as scriptwriting, journalism and reviewing, festival programming, museum and exhibit curation, and promotion and marketing. The course examines creative writing and film within historical, cultural and geographical contexts, rather than in isolation. You'll explore how writing and film are shaped by their surroundings. Through analysis of published writing, you'll consider language and style. In Year 3, the course culminates in a major research project, covering a topic of your choice. You'll also complete a creative writing dissertation.

This course, one of a suite of digital media courses, enables you to study professional digital media practice in a microstudio environment with a focus on the design skills necessary for the field of games development. On this course, you'll gain detailed knowledge of building maintenance, care, conservation and structure, reflecting the work of a building surveyor. You'll study the business and legal aspects of property and construction. You'll learn how to advise clients of legal and financial implications resulting from the condition of buildings.

You'll examine building designs, poor, good and/or sustainable. You'll use sketching and computer-aided design packages. You'll also examine reasons for constructions and buildings failing, which is a key knowledge base for chartered building surveyors.

A major group project and an independent research project will give you the opportunity to showcase your learning.
