This course builds on the established strengths of the Mathematics and Computer Science programmes and develops a multidisciplinary approach to the computational analysis of data. Do you aspire to work on magazines? This course will give you the best possible start on the road to success. It addresses subjects such as writing, subediting, production and design techniques, research skills and how to generate lively, interactive content for the web.

In an editorial team, you will produce two magazines and a magazine website and undertake a placement on a published title.

You will also have the opportunity to study magazine design, production, fashion and sport or data journalism. Finally, you will carry out a 12–15,000 word dissertation or a related practical project.

This course will enhance your knowledge of the clinical applications of psychology and build practical experience to help your future career.

You will be taught by both clinically active psychologists and research active academics. You will learn theories of psychopathology from childhood to adulthood, and clinical applications of psychology in health and well-being. The course offers skills training in counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and develops your awareness of professional issues relevant to clinical practitioners.

You will gain a real advantage for careers in clinical and counselling psychology, research and a related area of psychology. Our course looks at research in child psychology, focusing on the advanced study of psychological development in children and the implications of psychological theory and research for policy and practice.

Examples of projects include: medicinal chemistry (eg. synthesis of anti-cancer compounds and natural products), pharmaceutical technology (eg. optimisation of tablet manufacture and formulation), and clinical pharmacy (eg. pharmacovigilance, clinical trial and medicines regulations).

Media is central to the way in which we understand and experience the world around us. This course will equip you with both the knowledge and skills to understand the world of media and to engage with it as practitioners, researchers, media theorists and industry experts.

One of the main characteristics is the integration of theory and practice, as well as being introduced to aspects of the media industry. You'll acquire practical skills in media production across a range of digital platforms, i.e. video, websites and podcasts, television, websites, motion graphics.

In the final year, you'll work on a major piece of independent research as a practice-based or written dissertation to further develop the professional skills necessary for employment.
