This course will allow you to become a qualified youth and community worker, increasing your employment opportunities in this rapidly changing field. It is validated by the National Youth Agency.

You will participate in a rich and culturally diverse teaching and learning environment and undertake two challenging placements, enabling you to apply your knowledge and hone your practical skills. During your studies, you will critically engage with the tensions and challenges of current practice, build a sophisticated knowledge of effective management approaches, debate how youth work and community development has responded to shifting government policies and learn how to support inclusive practice that can inspire positive social change.

This course has been designed on the principles which promote social justice, and challenge injustice and inequality. Alongside the taught modules, you will be able take advantage of our professional development programme, which offers the chance to explore and understand recent developments in the field, exchange experiences with colleagues and practitioners and learn from one another. You will also gain an understanding of how to conduct research as a practitioner, and undertake an in-depth dissertation study.

Promoting and marketing sport is a growing industry. You’ll develop as a dynamic sport marketer to prepare for an exciting career in this vibrant field.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Gain insight into specific aspects of sport marketing in a changing global environment
• Discover how sport marketing contributes to the success of sports performers, teams, organisations, events and related industries
• Learn how to connect and interact with various audiences through broadcasting, branding, print and digital campaigns
• Analyse consumer behaviour
• Develop an understanding of media technologies and how they can be used to communicate with a target market
• Build skills in gaining sponsorship, writing press releases, event management, business planning, and setting up a small business

Nutrition plays a key part in the promotion of good health and the primary prevention of diet-related illness in communities and populations.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Become a critically reflective practitioner and gain practical experience in our health science and catering laboratories
• Gain an understanding of the relationship between food, nutrition and health
• Manage, analyse, interpret and communicate information and statistics about nutrition related health and disease states
• Undertake work-based placements to apply your expertise and refine your practical skills
• Have the option of undertaking a sandwich placement in year three

 You’ll undertake an extended placement in an area such as the food industry, for producers of specialist nutrition products, health promotion or research. You’ll also develop group skills by delivering your own nutrition awareness event. Throughout the course, you’ll learn skills which are appealing and desirable to employers.

Become an effective communications practitioner with the expertise and confidence to work in an international setting. You will learn how to work with clients to produce practical communications solutions in the private, public and voluntary sectors all over the world.

The course is delivered by four European universities: Leeds Beckett University, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, IULM in Italy and Vilnius University in Lithuania, which all specialise in professional communications and public relations.

You will choose whether to study your first or second semester at Leeds Beckett University, where you will benefit from being taught at one of the most established centres for education and research in the field of public relations in Europe. You will spend your remaining semesters at a partner university, specialising in areas of expertise specific to that university. You could also take an optional industry placement in your final semester.

Engage with innovative theory. This course has been designed to significantly expand both your practical expertise within the field of medical biochemistry and your transferable skills. Exposure to a range of techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy and diagnostic assays, and their associated theories will significantly develop your understanding of medical biochemistry.

During your studies, you will prepare for, and undertake, an extensive independent project. You will discuss your project in detail with your supervisor before carrying out your research and writing up your study in a thesis. Additionally, you will study related subjects such as metabolism, physiology and the genetics of drug responses.

This course will develop your competencies in data analysis and statistics, science communication and professional development, enabling you to further your career as a confident medical biochemist or researcher.

This course has been designed in-line with the specific criteria required to go on to undertake the NHS Scientist Training Programme. As well as gaining an understanding of the practice and theory of advanced medical biochemistry, you will master other skills required to be a capable scientist. These include data analysis techniques such as using SPSS, and effective science communication, for example developing conference posters, delivering presentations, writing scientific papers and using social media to disseminate your research.

Learn the essentials of business leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills, underpinned with a thorough grounding in the key principles of business management.

By specialising in human resources, you will gain an understanding of how to use an organisation's best resource - its workforce - to achieve its strategic goals and get the very best out of each individual and team. You will also study key perspectives on human behaviour, how these behaviours are affected by times of uncertainty and change and what you can do to mitigate these challenges.

This course is ideal for graduates of non-business related courses who want to boost their employability by adding fundamental business and management skills to their CV - with a particular leaning towards human resource management.

With a strong focus on practical learning, you will make use of our purpose-built business simulation suite, allowing you to devise rapid response strategies to address a range of business-critical challenges and crisis situations. Immediate feedback from a facilitator will help evaluate and improve your analytical and decision making skills.

You will be taught through lectures, seminars and tutorials, using both individual and group work. Your tutors are academic experts, many of whom are Fellows of the Higher Education Academy, and industry practitioners, qualified to professional chartered status in their respective fields.

In an increasingly interconnected global economy, all businesses have to compete within complex supply networks in order to survive and prosper. The effective management of supply chains and logistics is recognised as key to sustaining a company?s competitive advantage, and this accredited course will enable you to successfully negotiate the uncertain economic environment now facing businesses across the world.

Tutored by industry specialists, you will develop your understanding of core business topics such as corporate strategy and the improvement of business processes, and you will become a skilled and knowledgeable procurement expert. Using established management tools and techniques, you will then be able to apply your knowledge of supply chain management and logistics to complex regional, national and international issues in a variety of settings.

If you are already a member of either of the accrediting bodies for this course, you could apply for accreditation of prior learning to gain exemptions from some modules.

Realise your potential in contemporary music production and develop your ability to perform live.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Concentrate on four themes: performance (group and individual), composition and arrangement, technology and production, and contextual studies
• Work alongside students and staff both in the studio and at live music venues, building a portfolio that will help you achieve your professional ambitions as a musician
• Work in conjunction with students from music production in the studios as well as working in live venues
• Have access to workshops and industry professionals through our links with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild

You’ll have the option to gain invaluable work experience through a placement year in industry and the opportunity to work with external clients in your final year. Throughout your course you’ll be encouraged to perform externally in the many venues that Leeds has to offer. Previous students have performed at events including the Live at Leeds festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to venues across the city every year.
