Take your passion for audio to the next level with this JAMES accredited course.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Understand the physical nature and behaviour of sound and use this to benefit audio production and performance
• Analyse how audio systems work
• Study a blend of engineering, acoustics, programming and electronics
• Apply your skills and knowledge to acoustic issues and technical requirements you’ll face in industry
• Learn to record live sound, digital broadcasts, studio and location sound and audio-visual applications
• Work across a variety of environments including live music events, studio sound and sound reproduction systems

You’ll practise using your knowledge to find solutions to audio engineering problems. For example, you’ll learn how to predict and reduce the acoustic impact of rail lines on nearby homes, and how to design a public address system to deliver a speech to thousands of listeners.

Speech and language therapists (SLT) are privileged to work with people throughout their entire lifespan, from neonatal to end of life care.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Gain a professional qualification as an SLT in three years
• Learn to provide assessment and intervention for communication impairments and difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing
• Study a variety of subjects such as psychology, linguistics and speech pathology
• Attend guest lectures from specialist clinicians and medics to ensure your learning is current and to expand your networks
• Experience ongoing and block placements through a mixed placement model

We adopt a mixed placement model, which means that you'll have the opportunity to experience ongoing and block placements. An ongoing placement means that you are on placement one day per week, whilst in university the remaining days. On a block placement, you’ll spend all week on placement, with no lectures during these periods. You’ll be required to travel to placements independently and these will be located throughout the Yorkshire and Humberside region.

You'll undertake ongoing and block work placements in all three years of your course. You'll also be able to make the most of course-related opportunities such as campaigning and raising awareness of people with communication difficulties, getting involved in the speech and language therapy society and volunteering in the UK and abroad. You’ll gain a wide range of clinical experiences with both children and adults

Course structure
You’ll study a balance of history and media modules in your first year, helping you develop a strong skillset and knowledge of methodologies in each discipline. Things like source analysis and media interpretation.

In your second year, you’ll bring your skillset together by completing your first interdisciplinary module. You’ll also begin driving your studies in the direction you want through a wide range of module options.

Your third year culminates in the completion of your dissertation, which explores and celebrates the interconnections between history and media. Employability is embedded throughout your course.

• Build your understanding of structures, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, management, health, safety and welfare, surveying, materials science and sustainable development

Our modern, well-equipped laboratories will give you the chance to get involved with industry standard tools and testing. We'll show you how to examine the strength of materials for structures, and understand the latest geotechnical and structural analysis software packages.

We offer great links with industry, thanks to our teaching team which includes Chartered Engineers who have extensive experience across different areas of engineering. Guest lectures and talks on engineering projects will provide you with great opportunities to network with professional engineers and understand how what you're learning can be applied to real situations.

Through a combination of teaching and group work of placement experience in a variety of health and social care settings, this course will challenge your problem-solving and practical skills.

• Devise interventions to help your clients enjoy an optimal quality of life
• Learn the soft skills, attitudes and behaviours to enable you to communicate effectively

This course is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and is a World Federation of Occupational Therapists Approved Education Programme. Your curriculum will reflect the standards required by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will support people to manage a range of health and social challenges. These can include these can include enabling someone to go back to work following a period of depression, play sport following a head injury, or helping children with autism play games.

Become an effective communications practitioner with the expertise and confidence to work in an international setting. You will learn how to work with clients to produce practical communications solutions in the private, public and voluntary sectors all over the world.

The course is delivered by four European universities: Leeds Beckett University, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, IULM in Italy and Vilnius University in Lithuania, which all specialise in professional communications and public relations.

You will choose whether to study your first or second semester at Leeds Beckett University, where you will benefit from being taught at one of the most established centres for education and research in the field of public relations in Europe. You will spend your remaining semesters at a partner university, specialising in areas of expertise specific to that university. You could also take an optional industry placement in your final semester.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Work with choreographers, independent dance artists and directors
• Learn how to perform, direct, organise and teach, developing your skills in all areas of contemporary dance production

You will be able to take advantage of opportunities at local, national and international level, using our links to give you access to recognised artists working in contemporary practices. Regular networking and work experience throughout the course will give you the confidence to take on exciting projects and approach people inside and outside the industry.

In your third year you’ll be able to choose a placement that appeals to you. You could help run a festival, shadow a choreographer, take part in a teaching residency, or do something else that is of interest to you.

This course will equip you with a deep understanding of accounting and finance and their importance for organisations and businesses.

If you take a paid work placement in your third year, you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills.
