Develop your skills in product design and professional practice.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Gain insight into user requirements, economic, environmental and ethical considerations, as well as materials, manufacturing, production and industry capabilities
• Use your insights to help inform the design of your products
• Design a range of products for both commercial and domestic use, including furniture, interior products, consumer goods and sustainable products
• Work on live industry briefs, which will ensure you’ll be working in real world settings to design products that make a positive contribution to the world around us

Quantity surveyors are the cost managers of the construction industry. While studying for a recognised degree, you’ll learn how quantity surveyors organise, control and manage the costing of projects, including building economics, contracts and construction law, construction technology and project management.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Undertake individual and group assessments and develop core skills
• Build analytical, arithmetic and IT abilities
• Develop as an innovative team player with the problem solving and transferable skills needed to succeed
• Gain the confidence and skills to tackle difficult contractual situations and negotiations
• Develop an industry perspective on contemporary issues in the field

Sandwich year
Our sandwich route includes a one year industry placement, enabling you to take advantage of the strong links we have with local authorities, commercial organisations and private quantity surveying practices - all of whom provide placement opportunities for our students.

You’ll be guided by practising writers and researchers, undertaking modules that encourage an interdisciplinary approach to understanding writing and contemporary culture.

As part of your course, you'll:

• Develop strong communication and creative thinking skills by engaging with a diverse range of disciplines
• Receive a broad foundation in creative practice and cultural studies
• Inform and develop your own creative practice by exploring poetry and the short story in more depth
• Tailor your study to suit your career aspirations through a range of option modules
• Complete a dissertation-length project
• Produce an anthology in collaboration with your fellow students, developing your entrepreneurial skills

You’ll take an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on multiple areas of research and culture to inform your creative writing practice. With a particular focus on employability, the course offers a range of specialist modules that encourage you to reflect on your skillset.

The world of cinema increasingly offers opportunities for study outside of filmmaking itself. This innovative programme offers the opportunity to gain both the vital skills and critical awareness necessary to pursue a career in the diverse areas of contemporary film curation and exhibition, whether within the industry or within the field of research. This could include curation within a museum or arts centre; festival management; exhibition and distribution both theatrical and online; or cinema programming.

A range of placements with industry partners including The Tetley, a leading centre for contemporary art housed in the former Tetley brewery, and Leeds International Film Festival, will allow you to see this in action, providing you with the practical skills you need to successfully curate and exhibit films.

Classroom-based modules will explain the theory behind programming, archiving and film exhibition using case studies including cinemas, art galleries and festivals amongst others.

As climate change and a range of ethical considerations forces us to address the true cost of new buildings, you'll practise sustainable interior design through creative re-use of existing structures.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Study in a well-equipped studio environment and award-winning building in the vibrant city of Leeds
• Use traditional art and design inspiration and processes, along with digital media, to sculpt, draw and model innovative interior architecture
• Develop your place-making talents to shape sensory, emotive and tactile contemporary interior landscapes
• Complete design projects in response to human issues, live briefs and external clients
• Become an imaginative, ethical designer at the forefront of interior architecture and design practice and be supported in your individual aspirations and creativity
• Showcase your design talents to the public and impress industry professionals by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year

You’ll be taught by experienced practitioners whose backgrounds are in top architecture and design industry consultancies and practices. Live projects will give you the opportunity to engage with real clients, user groups, experts, practising designers and architects.

Develop the entrepreneurial flair to kick-start, manage and grow your own business or help an existing enterprise to expand.

If you take a paid work placement in your third year, you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills.

As well as having the option to gain experience on a placement, you’ll take part in workshops and work on a consultancy project within a start-up business.

Our guest lecture series will help give you access to the enterprise expertise present in Leeds, the northern powerhouse of the region's businesses and economy. Past speakers include the CEO of the London Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Chief Economist of Yorkshire Bank.

Explore criminal behaviour, policing and criminal justice, and cultivate a deeper understanding of our current responses to crime on this qualifying law degree.

The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as meeting the academic requirements of your legal training, and completion will enable you to undertake further study in order to become a solicitor or barrister.

As part of your course, you’ll:

Learn to produce content for all platforms including TV, radio and the web.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Develop your understanding of new technological developments and approaches in the creation of broadcast video and audio content
• Become an expert producer with the confidence to work across all platforms
• Develop TV and radio ideas and formats
• Take on production roles and work in teams on live broadcasts
• Produce podcasts, and shoot and edit video
• Create and work with motion graphics materials
• Exhibit your final projects to the general public and industry professionals at our Creative Technology Showcase 

You’ll learn to anticipate and respond to current local and global changes in broadcasting needs. As you develop production content in a broadcasting and radio studio, you’ll also have access to facilities for live edits of your material. We’ll give you the skills to use graphics and visual construction to communicate material for branding and audiences.

Opportunities will arise to work in our in-house media training facility on collaborative projects.

Combine business knowledge and your managerial skill set with financial expertise to help give you an advantage when you enter the competitive financial services industry.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Complete finance modules that count towards accreditation with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
• Put what you've learned into practice by taking part in a live business consultancy project where you can work with established businesses, charities and third sector organisations

This course is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and is a World Federation of Occupational Therapists Approved Education Programme. Your curriculum will reflect the standards required by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will support people to manage a range of health and social challenges. These can include these can include enabling someone to go back to work following a period of depression, play sport following a head injury, or helping children with autism play games.
