As part of this course you’ll:

• Understand contemporary and relevant critiques of the current housing sector
• Explore topics within the context of housing studies such as the ways different groups co-exist in urban areas, leadership, professional ethics, and tenants’ law

You’ll have the chance to support your learning and experience different urban and cultural environments on field trips. Working alongside students from other universities on joint fieldwork projects will enable you to develop your teamworking, communication and planning skills.

Examine our relationship with the natural environment and learn to understand and consider responses to the challenges of climate change, globalisation, urbanisation, development and regeneration.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Explore a range of contemporary issues within geography and environmental science such as remote sensing, natural hazard management, energy and environmental governance, climate adaptation, GIS and specialist technical field work
• Develop your understanding of the relationships between human activity and environmental change and combine theories about the physical nature, characteristics and environment of the world with human interactions

Field trips, which include visits to sites of geographical and environmental importance, will help you gain an understanding of real-world issues and develop competence in practical research skills.

Civil engineering is a rewarding profession with engineers increasingly working in multidisciplinary teams.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Study a practical course that will ensure you have the technical and management capabilities to contribute effectively in a wide range of environments
• Be supported in recording your initial professional development for membership of the accrediting institutions
• Secure work placements during the summer, with the help of your course team

This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation on behalf of the Engineering Council as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

The course team will help you secure work placements during the summer and your sandwich year, if you choose to take one. A placement or sandwich year will provide you with a great opportunity to gain practical experience in the workplace, which will help you apply for jobs when you graduate.
