You will develop your understanding of the very latest communication tools and technology while you engage with social media, search engine optimisation, crowd sourcing and user-generated content. You will also focus on the traditional media platforms of newspapers, television and radio.

This was the first journalism course in England to be taught from within a business school, providing students with access to our extensive contacts in industry. As part of this course you’ll:

• Gain the skills to become a professional occupational therapist, able to deliver and evaluate occupational therapy in a range of settings
• Understand the relationship between occupation and health, models of occupation, occupational science and occupational justice
• Learn how to carry out occupational therapy assessments and interventions
• Work with people from across the lifespan and with a range of physical, mental and social difficulties such as dementia, stroke, homelessness or unemployment

Develop the entrepreneurial flair to kick-start, manage and grow your own business or help an existing enterprise to expand.

As part of your course you’ll:

If you take a paid work placement in your third year, you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills.

As well as having the option to gain experience on a placement, you’ll take part in workshops and work on a consultancy project within a start-up business.

Our guest lecture series will help give you access to the enterprise expertise present in Leeds, the northern powerhouse of the region's businesses and economy. Past speakers include the CEO of the London Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Chief Economist of Yorkshire Bank.

Realise your potential in contemporary music production and develop your ability to perform live.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Concentrate on four themes: performance (group and individual), composition and arrangement, technology and production, and contextual studies
• Work alongside students and staff both in the studio and at live music venues, building a portfolio that will help you achieve your professional ambitions as a musician
• Work in conjunction with students from music production in the studios as well as working in live venues
• Have access to workshops and industry professionals through our links with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild

You’ll have the option to gain invaluable work experience through a placement year in industry and the opportunity to work with external clients in your final year. Throughout your course you’ll be encouraged to perform externally in the many venues that Leeds has to offer. Previous students have performed at events including the Live at Leeds festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to venues across the city every year.

Urban design recognises architecture and the city as a collective form of knowledge. It brings together professionals from a range of backgrounds who share a passion for improving the design of our urban environments.

Whether you have studied urban design, architecture, interdisciplinary design or planning, this course will enable you to network with practitioners, planners, architects and landscape architects to explore the role of urban design in the city.

This course will employ a research-by-design approach to understanding national and international cities. You will study governance as a spatial design concern and will gain a deep understanding of the formation of the city within diverse political, economic, social and cultural contexts. By developing your ability to apply theory to practice, you will appreciate the complexity of creating spaces across different structural layers.

You will study the latest methods and design theories relating to urban environments, exploring the development and resolution of projects and focusing on achieving environmental sustainability. Working with landscape architecture and town planning students, you will also address briefs provided by external clients, developing your ability to work as part of a team and making a significant contribution to innovative designs.

Develop your critical, analytical and interpretive skills and forge a deeper understanding of the world around you.

Interest in sport and exercise in the UK has increased significantly, and those working in the industry require a diverse set of skills. This course will enable you to apply science and medicine to help athletes recover from injury and reach their physical peak and also aid the general population in maintaining healthy lifestyles.

You will gain practical expertise that will allow you to assess, treat and support individuals from a variety of sporting disciplines. By understanding the process of an injury audit to identify risk factors, you will learn how to implement an evidence-based treatment plan that minimises the chance of reinjury.

You will develop a comprehensive knowledge of pathophysiology, biomechanics and sports-specific clinical reasoning, allowing you to accurately evaluate and treat injuries. You will study rehabilitation strategies and return-to-play assessments, and you will explore the emergent field of prehabilitation, which aims to prevent injuries before they occur.

Build on your existing knowledge of finance and economics with a thorough examination of international banking and investment. You will learn about banking regulations across the globe and how economic factors can affect investment growth and financial stability. You will explore theories relevant to understanding current industry practices in the UK and further afield.

You will be taught by a team of supportive tutors, and you will be able to draw on their considerable industry experience in economics and finance, which includes consultancy work with the International Monetary Fund.
