As part of your course you’ll:

If you take a paid work placement in your third year you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills. Past students have completed placements with companies including Mercedes Benz, Price Waterhouse Cooper and high street retail banks.

Quantity surveyors are the cost managers of the construction industry. While studying for a recognised degree, you’ll learn how quantity surveyors organise, control and manage the costing of projects, including building economics, contracts and construction law, construction technology and project management.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Build analytical, arithmetic and IT abilities
• Develop as an innovative team player with the problem solving and transferable skills needed to succeed
• Gain the confidence and skills to tackle difficult contractual situations and negotiations

Sandwich year
Our sandwich route includes a one year industry placement, enabling you to take advantage of the strong links we have with local authorities, commercial organisations and private quantity surveying practices - all of whom provide placement opportunities for our students.

Develop the knowledge and expertise you will need for a managerial position in business.

You will gain an in-depth perspective of all areas of business including strategic analysis, ethical decision-making, people management, financial analytics, marketing and risk management. A focus on entrepreneurial skills will be embedded throughout your course and your assessments will reflect the demands of the workplace environment, for example researching and delivering a presentation.

Your tutors will deliver theory via lectures before you explore those ideas in smaller seminars. You will learn in a collaborative environment using case studies to enhance your learning and your tutors will guide your development by providing immediate personalised feedback. You will complete either a work placement or MBA Consultancy Project; either module will enable you to apply your theoretical knowledge to a real-life business issue, before collecting data and research to identify practical solutions.

This course will allow you to become a qualified youth and community worker, increasing your employment opportunities in this rapidly changing field. It is validated by the National Youth Agency.

You will participate in a rich and culturally diverse teaching and learning environment and undertake two challenging placements, enabling you to apply your knowledge and hone your practical skills. During your studies, you will critically engage with the tensions and challenges of current practice, build a sophisticated knowledge of effective management approaches, debate how youth work and community development has responded to shifting government policies and learn how to support inclusive practice that can inspire positive social change.

This course has been designed on the principles which promote social justice, and challenge injustice and inequality. Alongside the taught modules, you will be able take advantage of our professional development programme, which offers the chance to explore and understand recent developments in the field, exchange experiences with colleagues and practitioners and learn from one another. You will also gain an understanding of how to conduct research as a practitioner, and undertake an in-depth dissertation study.

Develop the skills you will need to work in the expanding and diverse modern professional audio and music industries.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore the technologies and techniques used in the recording, production and reproduction of sound and music
• Fuel your creativity while expanding your theoretical knowledge
• Access industry-standard facilities, including our impressive recording studios, post-production rooms and portable recording and audio analysis devices
• Have the option to work with external clients in your final year

This course is accredited by JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) which encourages the delivery of workshops and lectures from industry professionals. A placement option and your final year project will provide you with opportunities to work with industry partners.
