As part of your course, you’ll:

• Critically explore global issues such as security, poverty, debt and famine
• Understand how we can address the challenges faced by humanity from an international relations perspective
• Examine global inequalities, the rise of the superpower nations and what power looks like at a global level
• Understand how major developments, including the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, globalisation, changing global power relations and the emergence of new terror threats and social movements have shaped the world
• Evaluate theories of international relations and diplomacy and analyse the ideas, ideologies, policies and institutions that form the foundations of global politics
• Analyse what happens during conflict, and the challenges faced by states and world organisations trying to preserve peace and security

Become an effective communications practitioner with the expertise and confidence to work in an international setting. You will learn how to work with clients to produce practical communications solutions in the private, public and voluntary sectors all over the world.

The course is delivered by four European universities: Leeds Beckett University, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, IULM in Italy and Vilnius University in Lithuania, which all specialise in professional communications and public relations.

You will choose whether to study your first or second semester at Leeds Beckett University, where you will benefit from being taught at one of the most established centres for education and research in the field of public relations in Europe. You will spend your remaining semesters at a partner university, specialising in areas of expertise specific to that university. You could also take an optional industry placement in your final semester.

This course will enhance your theoretical knowledge and will provide an opportunity to put theory into practice. Your first semester critically engages with key theories and the second focuses on developing your analytical, investigative and practical skills. During the final part of your course, you will complete a major independent project.

Your modules offer perspectives on a broad range of topics in relation to the study of media and culture, such as the effect of globalisation on media consumption, the impact new media platforms have had upon fandom, and how cultural identities are marginalised through mediatized images.

Work will be evaluated via a range of innovative assessment methods, including pitching your work to industry experts. You will learn collaboratively through seminars, guest lectures and workshops, with a wealth of opportunities to give your learning real-world context.

Become a spatial planning expert with the ability to advise clients on the effective use of land. This accredited course will develop your understanding of local authority controls relating to many aspects of policy; including transportation, communities, the environment and the quality of the built environment.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Study the rationale behind spatial planning, including considerations of effectiveness, diversity and difference, and community engagement
• Engage in creative and innovative intervention in spaces and places using appropriate techniques, knowledge and skills
• Reflect on your own work as you develop your self-awareness
• Explore the ethics of planning practice

If you currently work or volunteer in health and social care, this top-up degree will extend your knowledge of the sector and refine your clinical expertise.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Explore the context of your practice against a backdrop of changing local, national and political drivers
• Analyse your decision making and reflect on your own practice
• Generate new ideas in your current job role and for the benefit of patients and service users
• Respond to changing local, regional and political drivers across a range of settings such as mental health, social care and adult health

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Design and detail buildings to bring ideas to life
• Enhance your understanding of working in the field through site visits and live projects
• Work on a wide range of design projects, from small domestic to large-scale commercial buildings
• Study a variety of subjects to become proficient in construction technology, materials, legislation and management
• Spend time in the design studio, using industry-standard design suites to develop and apply your skills on building design projects.

Develop skills in analysis, legal reasoning, evaluation and advocacy on this Leeds Law School qualifying law degree.

The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as meeting the academic requirements of your legal training, and completion will enable you to undertake further study in order to become a solicitor or barrister.

Final year students also have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of leading employers at the end of year degree show. You can see some of their work in the Leeds School of Arts Festival. Previous years have seen many of our students gain job offers through the showcase opportunities.

Accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), this course will enable you to develop the skills you’ll need as a professional counsellor or psychotherapist. It will provide you with the training required to become registered with the BACP and be professionally recognised as a counsellor.

As part of this course, you’ll:
