As part of your course you’ll:

You’ll be engaged in practical events in the city in theatres, galleries and more unusual sites. Our performing arts students and staff have also performed their work together at Latitude, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Light Night here in Leeds.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Design and detail buildings to bring ideas to life
• Enhance your understanding of working in the field through site visits and live projects
• Work on a wide range of design projects, from small domestic to large-scale commercial buildings
• Study a variety of subjects to become proficient in construction technology, materials, legislation and management
• Spend time in the design studio, using industry-standard design suites to develop and apply your skills on building design projects.

Civil engineering is a rewarding profession with engineers increasingly working in multidisciplinary teams.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Study a practical course that will ensure you have the technical and management capabilities to contribute effectively in a wide range of environments
• Be supported in recording your initial professional development for membership of the accrediting institutions
• Secure work placements during the summer, with the help of your course team

Accredited IEng (Full)
This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation on behalf of the Engineering Council as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

The course team will help you secure work placements during the summer and your sandwich year, if you choose to take one. A placement or sandwich year will provide you with a great opportunity to gain practical experience in the workplace, which will help you apply for jobs when you graduate.

Train to be a qualified social worker and gain a thorough grasp of the knowledge, skills and values that sit at the core of this rewarding career. Recognising the powerful links between personal and political issues, the course will assert the need to challenge inequality and safeguard vulnerable people.

In your first year, you will study the legal frameworks, policies and theories - in particular psychosocial perspectives - that underpin social work. A practice placement will offer you the chance to hone your communication skills as you start to apply your knowledge in the field.

In your second year, you will continue to extend and refine your understanding of the law. You'll also undertake a second practice placement and complete a dissertation. This course remains approved by Social Work England. This means that people qualifying from this course can apply to become a registered social worker.

Develop the skills to become an independent, innovative creative thinker and practitioner. You’ll enhance your portfolio and prepare for practice in the expanded field of the contemporary arts.

Our MA Fine Art will provide opportunities for you to build advanced technical and theoretical problem-solving strategies as well as advanced interpretative abilities.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Develop your motivations, ambitions and abilities as an artist
• Explore a number of practices including painting, sculpture, print, installation, video, sound, virtual / augmented reality, performance and curating
• Work on collective projects and events that will foster your team-working skills, adaptability and resourcefulness

This course will equip you with a deep understanding of accounting and finance and their importance for organisations and businesses.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Tailor your studies by choosing your modules to suit your interests or future career direction
• Specialise in accountancy or gain a wider perspective on business

Our guest lecture series will help support your development. Past speakers include the CEO of the London Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Chief Economist of Yorkshire Bank.

Examine our relationship with the natural environment and learn to understand and consider responses to the challenges of climate change, globalisation, urbanisation, development and regeneration.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Explore a range of contemporary issues within geography and environmental science such as remote sensing, natural hazard management, energy and environmental governance, climate adaptation, GIS and specialist technical field work
• Develop your understanding of the relationships between human activity and environmental change and combine theories about the physical nature, characteristics and environment of the world with human interactions

We have an excellent network of employers who will be able to offer relevant experience to help you develop employability and personal skills to help prepare you for employment. We also offer a work placement module to hone your personal, professional and employability skills.

Field trips, which include visits to sites of geographical and environmental importance, will help you gain an understanding of real-world issues and develop competence in practical research skills.

Develop your own approach to the study and practice of graphic design through a combination of brief-led and self-initiated projects.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore a wide spectrum of disciplines including design for print, illustration, photography, typography, animation and moving image
• Discover your strengths and develop your own individual style
• Have the opportunity to show off your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year

Construction is witnessing a transformation to become a smart and technologically innovative industry. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective innovation and successfully manage projects in this ever-evolving field.
