To work as a biomedical scientist in the UK, you must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Our IBMS degree accreditation ensures our degree courses have a curriculum that will prepare you to meet the HCPC standards of proficiency for biomedical scientists. As part of your course you’ll:

• Learn from a team of experienced and professional theatre and performance makers to produce exciting work for stage, galleries and festivals
• Gain real-world professional experience through public showings and work-based learning placements
• Explore theories of theatre and performance from researchers at the top of their field
• Become confident with the processes of making, performing and analysing theatre and performance, which will help you find employment within the creative industries

You’ll be engaged in practical events in the city in theatres, galleries and more unusual sites. Our performing arts students and staff have also performed their work together at Latitude, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Light Night here in Leeds.

Expert teaching:-
Learn from a team of experienced and professional theatre and performance makers to produce exciting work for stage, galleries and festivals.

Develop your own approach to the study and practice of graphic design through a combination of brief-led and self-initiated projects.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore a wide spectrum of disciplines including design for print, illustration, photography, typography, animation and moving image
• Discover your strengths and develop your own individual style
• Have the opportunity to show off your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year
• Drive your own learning and set your own targets, as you would in the workplace

Our students have worked alongside practitioners and on live briefs from organisations such as Harvey Nichols, the BBC, Leeds Art Gallery and the NHS.

You will specialise in either contemporary literature or creative writing. Taught in workshops held on weekday evenings, you will be able to fit your studies around your existing commitments.

Contemporary Literature
Specialise in researching contemporary literature. You will be introduced to a range of recent literary texts in English and develop an advanced, critical understanding of recent debates on the contemporary creative process.

You will be encouraged by expert tutors to develop your skills in close reading, creating and delivering presentations and formal discussions. Modules will explore how contemporary literary studies is a creative process, and will enable you to specialise in topics at the cutting edge of the discipline.   

Your independent project will enable you to experience the process of defining your own area of investigation and conducting in-depth research and writing.

Creative Writing
Study creative writing at an advanced level. From the outset, you will focus on developing particular expertise in the writing process, and the texts and theories you study will enhance your writing practice.

If you currently work or volunteer in health and social care, this top-up degree will extend your knowledge of the sector and refine your clinical expertise.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Explore the context of your practice against a backdrop of changing local, national and political drivers
• Analyse your decision making and reflect on your own practice
• Generate new ideas in your current job role and for the benefit of patients and service users
• Respond to changing local, regional and political drivers across a range of settings such as mental health, social care and adult health

Discover how marketing can have a major impact on the popularity and reputation of fashion brands the world over, from high-street labels to those dominating the catwalks of London, Paris and New York.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Learn to predict and identify trends, and understand why these trends are important to the industry
• Discover the techniques behind ensuring your brand gets the attention of influential bloggers and how to get your clothing into the headlines
• Study fashion history and the effect of political changes and social movements on fashion
• Have the opportunity to impress the public and industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year.

Your studies will be informed and delivered by people from all areas of the fashion industry, and you’ll work on live briefs set by real clients. You could also choose a placement year and experience a range of careers first-hand. Our placements will allow you build your experience and contacts, as well as helping you decide what you want to achieve when you graduate.
