As part of this course, you’ll:

This course is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and is a World Federation of Occupational Therapists Approved Education Programme. Your curriculum will reflect the standards required by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will support people to manage a range of health and social challenges. These can include these can include enabling someone to go back to work following a period of depression, play sport following a head injury, or helping children with autism play games.

Nutrition plays a key part in the promotion of good health and the primary prevention of diet-related illness in communities and populations.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Become a critically reflective practitioner and gain practical experience in our health science and catering laboratories
• Gain an understanding of the relationship between food, nutrition and health
• Manage, analyse, interpret and communicate information and statistics about nutrition related health and disease states
• Undertake work-based placements to apply your expertise and refine your practical skills
• Have the option of undertaking a sandwich placement in year three

Option modules and the flexible nature of this course will enable you to develop a broad overview of creative technology while also specialising in an area of your choice. You might choose to investigate emerging 3D computer animation techniques, work on post-production special visual effects or explore innovative photographic visual effects technologies.

You will develop your specialist skills and knowledge of digital technology through the use of digital tools in our inspiring learning environments, which include a chroma-key and motion capture studio and a suite of high-quality professional music studios. Accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM), this course will teach you how to work effectively with others and cultivate the range of technical skills required to be able to deliver projects effectively.

• Enhance your knowledge of the principles, roles and techniques of project management
• Learn how to use contemporary digital technologies, including project management software

As climate change and a range of ethical considerations forces us to address the true cost of new buildings, you'll practise sustainable interior design through creative re-use of existing structures.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Study in a well-equipped studio environment and award-winning building in the vibrant city of Leeds
• Use traditional art and design inspiration and processes, along with digital media, to sculpt, draw and model innovative interior architecture

As part of your course you’ll:

• Understand the physical nature and behaviour of sound and use this to benefit audio production and performance
• Analyse how audio systems work
• Study a blend of engineering, acoustics, programming and electronics
• Apply your skills and knowledge to acoustic issues and technical requirements you’ll face in industry
• Learn to record live sound, digital broadcasts, studio and location sound and audio-visual applications
• Work across a variety of environments including live music events, studio sound and sound reproduction systems

Qualify as a registered mental health nurse and develop the expertise to be able to support people with mental illnesses in their homes and specialist health services.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Spend time at university honing your specialist knowledge
• Practise your skills in a supported healthcare environment during placements
• Learn how to aid the recovery of people with mental health problems, while working alongside those in related health and social care professions, including adult nurses, social workers and dietitians

Completion of this course provides eligibility to apply for registration with the NMC as a qualified nurse - mental health nursing. Studying nursing with Leeds Beckett gives you access to a wide variety of placement opportunities within the NHS and the voluntary sector. We can offer these in many settings, including services in drug and alcohol, mother and baby, eating disorders and forensics.

You’ll have regular opportunities to interact with mental health service users throughout your study. Your placements will involve shift work and travel within the Leeds area.
