Cultivate your managerial skills in a hands-on marketing context. Your course modules will provide vital insights into the function of management, strategic and international marketing - particularly the role of social media - and the benefits of understanding consumer behaviour in small and medium-sized enterprises and blue-chip organisations. You could work on a live consultancy project, which will expose you to potential employers and industry contacts, or you could choose to specialise in a particular area of management or marketing when researching and writing your dissertation.

You will build your experience and meet potential employers while working on live projects in our purpose-built Professional Suite. You could also expand your networks and refine your expertise working on a major consultancy project for an international organisation.

Project management is an important facet of organisations across all sectors and industries. Accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM), this course will teach you how to work effectively with others and cultivate the range of technical skills required to be able to deliver projects effectively.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Manage the people, time and financial resources that are required to deliver successful projects
• Enhance your knowledge of the principles, roles and techniques of project management
• Learn how to use contemporary digital technologies, including project management software
• Develop the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels

Feedback and progress assessment, extra-curricular seminars, field trips and the involvement of industry experts as guest speakers will enrich your learning experience and your knowledge of current issues in the project management context.

This course will allow you to become a qualified youth and community worker, increasing your employment opportunities in this rapidly changing field. It is validated by the National Youth Agency.

You will participate in a rich and culturally diverse teaching and learning environment and undertake two challenging placements, enabling you to apply your knowledge and hone your practical skills. During your studies, you will critically engage with the tensions and challenges of current practice, build a sophisticated knowledge of effective management approaches, debate how youth work and community development has responded to shifting government policies and learn how to support inclusive practice that can inspire positive social change.

This course has been designed on the principles which promote social justice, and challenge injustice and inequality. Alongside the taught modules, you will be able take advantage of our professional development programme, which offers the chance to explore and understand recent developments in the field, exchange experiences with colleagues and practitioners and learn from one another. You will also gain an understanding of how to conduct research as a practitioner, and undertake an in-depth dissertation study.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Learn more about your current artistic interests as you draw from a range of disciplines as inspiration for your project work
• Develop your passion, whether that’s for creative text writing, dance, acting or directing
• Use project work to explore your particular area of interest
• Enhance your practical performance skills and confidence in your ability to create performance work through weekly technique classes and creative workshops
• Undertake a professional placement during your second year

Leeds is home to hundreds of professional theatre collectives, dance companies and arts festivals so you’ll be surrounded by a vibrant creative community and an exciting range of performance work.

We’ll support you in setting up your second-year professional placement. You could spend a semester learning alongside and networking with one of the many artistic companies in Leeds or you could choose to travel abroad to work for an international organisation. Our students have previously completed placements at Company Chameleon in Manchester, BMotion Festival in Bassano del Grappa, Italy and with theatre company Third Angel based in Sheffield.

All of the staff teaching on your course are practising artists, which means our teaching is based on real professional experience. You’ll also have the chance to attend additional workshops delivered by external artists and companies.

• Study poems, plays and prose narratives in their historical and cultural contexts
• Discuss and debate the different ways texts can be interpreted
• Embrace a wide range of theoretical approaches
• Cover a diverse range of texts, from the literatures of Romanticism through to the contemporary, and British and American Literature of the twentieth century to the postcolonial literatures of the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia
• Work directly with leading literary researchers to develop your own creative and critical voice

Your campus sits in the very centre of the city, surrounded by museums, art galleries, theatres, film production companies and recording studios. We work directly with Leeds museums and galleries and many regional events, including the Ilkley Literature Festival and the Leeds West Indian Carnival.

This course will prepare you to take the next step in your career if:

• Your first degree is in biomedical sciences or a related subject, or
• You don’t have a degree in this field, but you have significant experience of working in a biomedical sciences laboratory setting

As part of this course you’ll:

• Develop expertise to inform and underpin your research activities, so you’ll be well placed to undertake specialist laboratory-based roles or PhD study
• Study wide-ranging topics, from immunology and haematology to medical genetics and physiology
• Be supported in your development through taught sessions and the guidance of your research supervisor
• Learn through a range of activities, including tutor-led lab sessions, independent research and group assignments
