Our social work degree – which is fully accredited by the Social Work England (SWE) – has been designed and revised to give you the knowledge and professional skills to succeed in the field of social work. Genomic technologies are transforming the Biomedical sciences. Recent developments in DNA sequencing are creating unprecedented opportunities in molecular diagnostics, personal medicine and (infectious) disease prevention. There is a clear need for genomics specialists that can analyse and interpret genome data in a (bio)medical context.

This is an interdisciplinary programme with teaching provided by Life Sciences and Computer Science research active academics as well as other experts in the field. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of how changes in the genome relate to human disease. You will be trained to pursue a career in medical genomics in academia and industry.

You will enrol on a four-year course which includes the one-year foundation year. The number of students who progress to degree study is very high. The Foundation Year in Performing Arts is taught in our excellent studios and facilities at our Hendon campus by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses. You are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures.

Our design engineering degree gives you the hands-on skills and project experience you need to gain a competitive edge in both the industrial and commercial fields of design engineering. With the option to study a three-year BEng, or a four-year MEng, our design engineering course gives you the skills, the knowledge, and the hands-on experience to put you at the forefront of the next generation of design engineers.

You’ll get to grips with the digital systems and software you need to gain an insight into electronics, mechatronics, robotics and networking solutions. From your second year, you’ll have the option to carry on with your design engineering degree or transfer to a specialist robotics, electronics or mechatronics programme. Get transferable skills and hands-on experience with us
We’re the only undergraduate degree accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). By studying with us you’ll get access to specialist teaching and learning spaces, including a food inspection laboratory and a Grade 2 microbiology laboratory.

Our guest lectures and industry links will give you the opportunity to further enhance your knowledge of areas including practical food inspection, food safety, health and safety, and private sector housing.

Once you’ve completed your environmental health course, CIEH learning portfolio and professional interview, you’ll gain a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB), which means you’ll be qualified as an Environmental Health Officer.

As well as gaining an in-depth knowledge of the subject, you will also gain the ability to investigate environmental health issues in a range of contexts and apply your knowledge of environmental health stressors to solve complex problems. You will be able to interpret data and design novel solutions to environmental health issues, as well as performing practical food inspections. You will gain effective communication and leadership in Environmental Health settings and develop academic research strategies and critical writing.
