Visual communication through graphic design touches and shapes many aspects of modern life. From mobile apps and interactive posters to pop-up shows and global branding – graphic design is everywhere. Project work will feature as part of your study from the first year to help you learn to communicate your ideas. You’ll do this through a series of problem-solving tasks in branding, typography, magazine design, editorial design, advertising, art direction, and plenty more. You’ll work on briefs that closely mirror the professional world, getting transferable experience from the very start.

In your final year, you’ll develop a personal professional portfolio that’ll bring together your study and style as an artist. It’ll be exhibited at our degree show, ensuring that creative industry employers see your hard work. We have excellent industry links and many of our students undertake work  placements at top design companies during the second year.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA International Politics and Law

International politics has never been so relevant to our daily lives, which means that our BA in International Politics and Law will open up opportunities in all areas of this diverse and dynamic field, from public service, and international relations to regional organisations, NGOs, diplomacy, the media, and everything in between.

Our Sociology with Criminology degree is designed to give you a grounding in sociological and criminological thinking, research methods and key skills to articulate new and emerging social and criminological issues. You'll focus on how society responds to crime, its causes and consequences, and investigating how we do and should respond to criminal behaviour in all its forms.

Crime and criminal justice are central issues in today’s society, and our specialist Criminology and Sociology BA – one of the first in the world – opens up a wide range of career opportunities. Any strategic marketing role requires both a broad vision for the organisation and an understanding of the impact of differing marketing channels. Developed for marketing practitioners and graduates from areas such as marketing, management and social sciences, this course provides knowledge and skills in the three key areas of strategic marketing; Strategic Analysis, Strategic Marketing and Leadership, and Implementation.

The course has a strong focus on applying theoretical concepts to practice situations, employing real-life case studies. Throughout your time with us you’ll be taught by practising artists who’re involved in research and exhibit and sell their work globally, working across a diverse range of media like painting, film, photography, and more. Our north London campus location also puts you in the ideal spot to explore all the cultural happenings the city has to offer including the iconic Tate Modern and The National Gallery.

You’ll also get to develop your individual practice, gaining hands-on experience of skills and processes inherent in the producing, exhibiting and critical contextualisation of your work.

Our BA Photography course will help you make the most of your creative vision and encourage you to develop your own personal approach.

You will be given the tools, opportunities and inspiration to explore the world we live in now, investigating photography’s role in the communication of ideas, opinion, comment, reportage, analysis and meaning through your own work and through debate. You can focus on editorial photography, portraiture, studio and fashion photography for magazines, books, exhibitions and new media, as well as carry out more investigative, reflective and conceptual work.

You will get full support from a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team, who have a broad range of professional expertise in a number of specialist areas, including digital imaging technology, documentary, editorial portraiture and reportage, fashion photography, curating and analysis, theory and writing. Combining political theory and international relations with legal perspectives, you’ll develop your legal skills, enhance your critical and analytical thinking, and learn the political concepts and analytical tools that will help you advance your career in the increasingly complex field of global politics, international law and governance. You’ll study the key aspects of law and enhance your knowledge of European and Middle Eastern geopolitics, international political economy, migration and human rights.

You'll be taught by people who are actively engaged in NGOs, International and European Organisations, as well as think tanks. Your tutors work with Parliament on policy issues, the UN on sustainability, in the middle-east on conflict and post-conflict issues and a host of other important issues and policies.

During your public health course, you’ll work with tutors and lecturers who are on the cutting edge of public health practice. All of our academic staff are experts in a broad range of fields such as environmental health, public health epidemiology, demography and the economics of health.

We invite industry experts and specialists from a range of bodies and organisations in support of your teaching, and our close links with Local Authorities ensure your professional skills and knowledge are in line with best practice.

During your BSc in Public Health, you’ll be encouraged to take on a work placement so you can gain professional and practical skills in the workplace. You’ll embed with a local authority or NGO and work on an aspect of public health you're interested in, working on a research project at the same time. Such placements are under the control of our employer partners who may restrict access to placement experience in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.

Sports Performance Analysis is an area experiencing massive growth, virtually every professional club and elite athlete employ or work with performance analysts who provide them with objective data to ultimately improve sporting performance. Roles typically include preparing statistical reports, preparing specific videos i.e. set pieces, coding matches via performance analysis software, identifying differences between teams/players via statistical analysis etc. This master’s course prepares students to work as a performance analyst by giving you the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to fulfil those roles.

Learn from academics who regularly work and consult with international teams, national governing bodies, elite clubs and athletes. Our pioneering programme is designed to prepare you for accreditation with the International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport. You will learn how to identify and develop performance indicators, how to create performance profiles, how to test reliability and get to grips with performance analysis software that is used in the industry.

You will gain experience as a performance analyst through our work-placement module. One of our partner organisations is Saracens Rugby Club and our facilities are housed at their nearby Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, where we boast world-class performance laboratories, rehabilitation units and testing facilities (access may be restricted depending on COVID-19 restrictions). You will build invaluable industry contacts and we maintain contact with many of our graduates who have gone on to work in professional sport with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Charlton FC, Saracens RFC and organisations like the English Institute of Sport, the RFU and the Lawn Tennis Association to name a few.
