Accountancy is at the core of every business which means that our BA Accounting and Finance course offers you a range of opportunities in every industry, from banking to fashion and everywhere in between. You’ll develop your advanced theoretical knowledge as well as a practical understanding of all things finance. Covering key areas within financial and management accounting, taxation and business law, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the role accounting plays in successful organisations.

Build your hands-on practical accounting skills

• You’ll build your knowledge through a combination of lectures, workshops and seminars. You’ll also take part in a range of class-based discussions to further develop your skills and understanding.
• We use accounting software such as Zero, Sage and OneSource in our teaching and our state-of-the-art Financial Markets Lab will give you the hands-on experience you'll need to succeed in the profession.
• During your studies, you will have the opportunity to do a paid work placement, either as a year-long project or two shorter placements. Here you’ll get the chance to test and improve your technical skills in the real world, as well as building your soft employability skills such as communication and team work.

Our criminology degree is one of the first in the world and we offer one of the most innovative programmes in the UK. The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements (online or face-to-face).

Due to the evolving situation as regards COVID-19, some or all of the work placements and in-person visits we normally facilitate for our students may be suspended in the 2020/21 academic year.

This new programme is aimed at this wider context of policing. It not only equips you with key skills that allow you to understand the causes of crime in the 21st century, it also equips you with key skills to build a career responding to crime.

The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) is not a pre-join degree for the police service, however the degree will allow you to apply for the accelerated Degree Holders Entry Programme, if you are interested in joining a UK police service after graduation.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations)

Our criminology degree is one of the first in the world and we offer one of the most innovative programmes in the UK. The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements.

Neurophysiology skills are in short supply, and our specialist neurophysiology course equips you with the most demanded expertise, experience and skillset to make an impact as a healthcare scientist.

Through a mix of analysis, lab work and a 50 week industry placement, you’ll develop the knowledge, skills and experience to confidently investigate, diagnose, treat and monitor a range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, strokes, dementia, nerve and muscle dysfunction and multiple sclerosis.

This course is accredited by the National School of Healthcare Science.

The performance nutrition industry is booming as recreational competitive sport grows increasingly popular, and there has never been a better time to specialise as a sports nutritionist.

Euromonitor report that the UK sports nutrition industry grew by 16 per cent in 2013 and annual growth of nine per cent is forecast until 2018, with product sales alone expected to reach £471 million.

Our masters degree in Sport and Exercise Nutrition was written in consultation with industry-leading experts and employers including the English Institute of Sport (EIS) to maximise the value of the degree to potential employers in elite and professional sport.

Students of the course meet the eligibility criteria for graduate registration with the Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) - the leading professional body for performance nutritionists both in the UK and globally.

The course focuses on professional practice and is underpinned by solid scientific and technical foundations. Work placements and practical training are integrated into the course, equipping you with significant experience in a professional setting.

You will learn from some of the UK's most experienced sports nutritionists and study in our industry-standard facilities at Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, where we regularly treat elite athletes and sports teams. (Access will be dependent on social distancing requirements due to Covid-19.) This means that the course runs alongside our other postgraduate sport degrees and students can work together to develop their skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists.

Understanding contemporary corporate finance is the key to understanding modern business. Covering all areas of finance including investment analysis and capital management, you’ll have the tools to solve financial problems faced by business today.

This course is tailored towards ambitious students who want a management and finance degree, and you’ll learn in a live environment. Using data from the London Stock Exchange, you’ll form portfolios of listed companies and compare it against the market. You’ll identify over and under-priced companies, as well as calculating Beta, among other skills.

You’ll take on the challenge of a work placement, developing your theory and practical skills to an employable level, as well as developing your understanding of financial organisations.he programme is studied over three years full-time, or four years if the option of a 12 month placement is taken. The course is divided into modules and each has a value of 30 credits. You must successfully pass modules to gain credits. To gain a BA (Hons) degree title you must gain 360 credits of which 120 must be in Year 3.

Companies and organisations require graduates who have expert business knowledge, who can also demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills, with the professional acumen to deal with challenges in a fast-paced business environment. You will develop essential skills and knowledge in business management and broaden your knowledge by focusing on key topics, such as the behaviour of people within organisations, and resource management. You will build on your financial knowledge and skills and learn the role of accounting within organisations.

Building your financial skills

• During your BA in Business Management (Finance), you’ll develop key business skills to help you in a management or financial career. Focusing on topics such as resource management, leadership, business finance and analysis, you’ll be able to work effectively as part of a team.
