This Masters' course is designed for those wishing to embark on a career in HR/People Management and for those already in an HR position wishing to enhance their professional development. Often known as the science of uncertainty, statistics is of vital importance in modern society where almost all sectors rely on the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. There is a great shortage of well qualified statisticians, data analysts and statistical consultants across the sector and this course has been specifically designed to meet that demand.

Applied statistics involves putting theory into practice - not only summarising and describing data, but extrapolating from it to draw conclusions about the population being studied. This is an applied, practically-orientated course that gives you advanced knowledge of statistical methods and the theory that underpins these methods. From crossover to the ‘classics’ and from film music to contemporary classical works, what is understood by ‘classical music’?

The MA Classical Music Business is ideal for any graduates with a specific interest in classical music, or for those with a classical music performance, musicology or composition degree. It is also highly suitable for anybody already in employment, who wants to further progress their career in the classical music industry.

The MA Classical Music Business at Middlesex is unique. In addition to its distinct content and specialised teaching, this programme gives you the opportunity take up placements with classical music organisations such as music publishing house Peters Edition, the National Opera Studio, the record label and promoter NonClassical, period instrument orchestra Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the English Chamber Orchestra. This course is designed to enable you to build up strong laboratory and diagnostic skills. This is built around a practical element, with an emphasis on developing these skills. Where possible, you will be able to study and learn without the University's specialist laboratories. This will be augmented through the use of sophisticated virtual laboratory simulation. Subject to any restrictions as a result of COVID-19, you'll also learn how to use cutting-edge equipment such as MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers and flow cytometers.

The Biomedical Science courses at Middlesex have a burgeoning international reputation and the University's strong links with London hospitals, NHS laboratories and other universities and industrial partners ensures that you will be studying the latest developments, practices and research. Our criminology degree is one of the first in the world and we offer one of the most innovative programmes in the UK. The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements (online or face-to-face).

Due to the evolving situation as regards COVID-19, some or all of the work placements and in-person visits we normally facilitate for our students may be suspended in the 2020/21 academic year.

This new programme is aimed at this wider context of policing. It not only equips you with key skills that allow you to understand the causes of crime in the 21st century, it also equips you with key skills to build a career responding to crime.

The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) is not a pre-join degree for the police service, however the degree will allow you to apply for the accelerated Degree Holders Entry Programme, if you are interested in joining a UK police service after graduation.

Combing psychological theory and research with therapeutic practice, this course is an ideal stepping-stone towards a career in counselling, psychotherapy, as well as clinical psychology. During your BSc in Psychology with Counselling you’ll gain a broad understanding of psychology, alongside developing specialist counselling skills. You’ll also learn about mental health practices and how they are studied and researched.

Our course has been accredited by the British Psychological Society. Those with a Lower Second Classification (or higher) will be eligible to apply for BPS accredited Master's and Doctoral programmes leading to careers as a Psychologist.

Previous graduates from this course have gone on to work as support workers, social therapists, counsellors, and case managers. You'll also have the option of working within private hospitals, independent practices, education in schools and universities, and public and private corporate institutions.

Learning counselling skills in a work environment
When available, you’ll be taught in our award winning Hatchcroft Building which includes physiology, social observation, virtual reality and auditory cognition laboratories. This allows you to build your skills in a live environment as you’ll have access to psycho-physiology and social observation labs, as well as 12 testing cubicles. Even in eventualities where we are unable to be in the laboratory or the classroom together, we aimm to use virtual tools to help you develop key practical skills.

During your counselling and psychology degree you’ll be encouraged to take on a work placement so you can test your skills in the real world. Previously we've seen our students take on internships in areas such as eating disorders, autism and the psychological factors relating to male and female rape.
