Our multi-disciplinary biomedical engineering course mixes engineering with biomedical science and physiology. This provides you with a solid understanding of the technological developments taking place in the fields of medical engineering and bioengineering.

You will build on your previous experience in applied mathematics, physics, or other sciences. During your course you will enhance your engineering knowledge and gain specialist skills which will help you to design and improve existing and emergent systems, devices and treatments.

You will also have access to the facilities in ourbioengineering and physics research laboratories. It is here that we’re making significant healthcare developments, which include the monitoring of premature babies, deep brain stimulation and the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

You can gain valuable professional experience – and receive a Diploma of Employability Studies – by taking a work placement with the NHS or one of our industrial partners between years two and three.

If you are applying for our four-year MEng biomedical engineering degree, you will not only be able to gain an integrated masters qualification once you’ve completed the fourth year of the degree, you will also be able to receive student loan funding to cover your course fees.  Continuation on the MEng degree is subject to you achieving a good academic profile in years one and two.

This degree will equip you with key skills in economics and finance, including data analysis, group presentation and discussion, writing and report preparation. You will enrol on a four-year course which includes the one-year foundation year. The number of students who progress to degree study is very high. The Foundation Year in Performing Arts is taught in our excellent studios and facilities at our Hendon campus by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses. You are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures.

Put your knowledge into practice
Our fashion design degree makes work experience part of your learning from the very start. In your second year, you’ll undertake a six-week work placement working with designers as they prepare for London Fashion Week. In the past, our students have worked with fashion giants like Burberry, Erdem, Molly Goddard and Peter Pillotto.

First and second year students will also participate in a end-of-year degree presentation, where third year students showcase their creative talents to industry experts.

Our graduates have gone onto exciting careers in the fashion industry thanks to our strong links with art and design employers, plus industry partners who sponsor final year students and give visiting lectures.Some students might also be chosen for our annual press show. Our Sociology with Criminology degree is designed to give you a grounding in sociological and criminological thinking, research methods and key skills to articulate new and emerging social and criminological issues. Studying BSc Medical Biochemistry with us will introduce you to new ideas and products that are applied to some of the biggest health problems of today. You’ll study the subject with a focus on human biology and medicine. Core themes will include chemistry, immunology, and molecular biology. There are two honour degree programmes to choose from - one is a three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc), and the other is a four-year Master of Science (MSci).

How you’ll practise your skills
Our course is unique among other medical biochemistry degrees because we focus on getting you work experience throughout your time with us. You’ll have the option of taking a year-long industry placement that’ll help you develop your transferable skills. We also have a work experience module that’ll allow you to increase your chances of employment and practice working in the scientific field. Workplace learning is under the control of our employer partners who may need to restrict access to placement learning in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.

You’ll learn through a series of computer-based sessions, practically focused learnings, and workshops. This mixed learning style will ensure you’re practising your skills in hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation as you learn. In addition, you’ll get the chance to become a member of the Middlesex Biochemical Society and gain experience as part of different research groups.
