Not all nutrition courses take a holistic approach to the subject. Our BSc Nutrition programme is interdisciplinary in its approach, exploring the link between diet, health, disease and performance. Learn to apply your skills

• Our course offers you the unique opportunity to undertake a 12-month placement in your third year before returning for a final year of study subject to availability in light of the Covid 19 pandemic. Completing the placement will mean you graduate with a BSc Nutrition (Professional Practice) degree, which highlights the additional practical skills you’ve gained to prospective employers. You’ll get plenty of support from our Employability Advisors, who’ll ensure you secure a placement that closely matches your interests.
• Members of the Nutrition Society have the option of taking advantage of its internship programme. Other potential placement opportunities include Unilever, GSK, sports clubs, NHS Primary Care Trusts, and Nestle.
• During your studies, you’ll use innovative technology to enhance your learning. You’ll be taught with a mixture of seminars, group and individual tutorials, and through laboratory classes to help you gain theoretical and practical knowledge of nutrition.

Our international tourism course covers all the essential knowledge to give you a solid foundation from which to pursue your interests. You’ll be equipped with knowledge about tourism in relation to sustainable economic development and civil society. In addition to this, you’ll have the flexibility to take on optional modules and take part in practice-based learning opportunities. The diverse style of learning will develop your skills and increase your prospects of employment once you graduate.

The events management module will give you a great understanding of the events industry and everything that goes into planning memorable ones. You’ll cover planning, strategy, and management while analysing festivals and the requirements of different event types. You’ll also develop your own event concept and produce a portfolio to show your understanding of planning specific events.

Our games design course is designed to give you a skill set that’s resilient to the rapid changes in an expanding and evolving industry. The games industry is  complex and diverse industry that spans a variety of old and new technologies fm print to computer software to 3D printed game pieces. Our BA/BSc in games design gives you the transferable skills and knowledge you need to become a successful games designer in this industry. Led by academic staff experienced in AAA, indie, tabletop and mobile gaming, you'll develop your technology and story development skills, as well as enhancing your game-play design expertise.

Depending on your interests, you will work on the technical side of games design and testing in the BSc, while the BA is focused on experience design and using scripting and games engines to produce satisfying gameplay experiences.

Now students who do not meet the requirements of a 12 month postgraduate course can still pursue a career in International Business, by completing an extra three months of study to bring them up to speed

This course has been specifically created to assist students who do not qualify for our 12 month programme gain the core knowledge and skills they need to catch up and complete the same level of study as the rest of our postgraduates. We've tailored the course to include three extra months of study that cover the essential skills and theories you need to embark on an advanced course in International Business Management.

Core to the course is an understanding of managing company operations and dealing with issues such as financial performance. You will gain in-depth knowledge of global business environments and international entrepreneurial activity, as well as benefiting from trips to industry and professional speakers. The aim of this course is to equip you with effective management and operational processes that will enable you to pursue a career path to managerial positions.

This midwifery degree takes place in our partner NHS hospitals, including London’s leading maternity units. Because the course has been developed in partnership with local NHS trusts, we’re able to offer you placements on different maternity wards. Your time studying will be equally dedicated to theory and practice.

All our teaching staff have professional career experience as midwives while many are actively involved in practice in the UK and overseas. You’ll study key modules including anatomy, physiology/pathophysiology, cultural and psychosocial issues, plus many more, to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council standards for proficiency for midwifery.

You’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities during your studies. These include a midwifery skills lab, housed in a separate building, where a range of high-fidelity simulations are set up in areas like resuscitation and dealing with complex care needs.

How you’ll practice your skills

• Our degree will ensure you get extensive practice while you study. Clinical practice weeks will require you to work shifts and experience the 24-hour, seven-day care to develop your understanding of women’s and babies’ needs throughout a 24-hour period. Your caseload will be purposefully small so you’re able to practice proficiency and continuity while being supported by a mentor.
• Your degree will be made up of 50% practice, and many of our graduates get their first job in their placement locations. Practice hospitals include Whittington Hospital, North Middlesex Hospital, and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
• This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to meet the highest standard of healthcare training. You’ll gain the status of a registered midwife when you graduate.

Studying BSc Medical Biochemistry with us will introduce you to new ideas and products that are applied to some of the biggest health problems of today. How you’ll practise your skills

• Our course is unique among other medical biochemistry degrees because we focus on getting you work experience throughout your time with us. You’ll have the option of taking a year-long industry placement that’ll help you develop your transferable skills. We also have a work experience module that’ll allow you to increase your chances of employment and practice working in the scientific field. Workplace learning is under the control of our employer partners who may need to restrict access to placement learning in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.
• You’ll learn through a series of computer-based sessions, practically focused learnings, and workshops. This mixed learning style will ensure you’re practising your skills in hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation as you learn. In addition, you’ll get the chance to become a member of the Middlesex Biochemical Society and gain experience as part of different research groups.

Covering everything from human behaviour and molecular neurobiology to psychiatric disorders and neurogenetics, our BSc Neuroscience gives you the specialist skillset to start your career.

Set in cutting-edge bioanalytical facilities our neuroscience degree will give you an opportunity to study and practice your new skills through both on campus (subject to availability in light of Covid 19) and on line learning.

Guided by our teaching staff – who are leading researchers in cognitive psychology, neuropsychology and neuroscience – you’ll explore a range of disciplines as you enhance your understanding of the function and dysfunction of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. • Our recently revamped bioanalytical laboratories give you access to the next generation of scientific instrumentation for molecular analysis – which is in line with the new focus on protein-hunting in scientific research. • With the help of our expert teaching staff, you’ll get to grips with specialist procedures such as psychophysiological monitoring, electroencephalography (EEG) and brain imaging techniques.

Cellular pathology is the study of structural and functional changes in cells, tissues and organs that underlie disease. It is a dynamic, fast-evolving specialism which saves many lives by providing rational clinical care and therapy in the fight against many serious diseases, particularly cancer.

This course has a strong practical element, with an emphasis on developing the skills needed in a laboratory and gaining hands-on experience of diagnostic techniques. You will be able to study and learn within the University's specialist laboratories which include a modern, well-equipped cell culture facility and fully-equipped proteomics facilities.
