The need for environmental sustainability is increasingly acknowledged in policy areas throughout the developed and developing world. For this reason, our course is designed for those looking to gain a high-level qualification in the theory and practical application of sustainable environmental management.

Our Master's degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management (suited to those with science and technical experience) offers insight into the causes and solutions to a range of environmental issues. You will develop the ability to evaluate the constraints and opportunities facing a variety of institutions and acquire the skills required to implement sustainable policies. Throughout your time with us you’ll be taught by practising artists who’re involved in research and exhibit and sell their work globally, working across a diverse range of media like painting, film, photography, and more. Our north London campus location also puts you in the ideal spot to explore all the cultural happenings the city has to offer including the iconic Tate Modern and The National Gallery.

You’ll also get to develop your individual practice, gaining hands-on experience of skills and processes inherent in the producing, exhibiting and critical contextualisation of your work.

With a wide range of specialist workshops, digital media, equipment, software and library facilities on-site you'll benefit from unique levels of access to both the latest forms of technology and traditional tools with expert support to help you develop your work.

This BA is an independent, studio-based programme which looks specifically at illustration as professional practice. Learn to challenge the boundaries of illustration in a creative studio environment with your peers, and discover where you can make a difference in the exciting world of illustration. You will have extensive access to some of the best workshop facilities in the country, including print processes such as etching, lithography, silkscreen, lino and monoprint, as well as a letterpress workshop and digital and traditional photographic studios and darkrooms.

We have an excellent record of success in international competitions. Past students have achieved many D&AD gold awards in a number of categories such as, Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation and Interactive design. We have also been shortlisted in the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize for many years, first prize in the 2012 Observer/Jonathan Cape/Comica Award, joint runner up in the Threadneedle Prize at Mall Galleries, and nominated for the Penguin Book cover prize.

We have strong links with the illustration industry, from publishers, illustration agents, and practising illustrators to graphic and packaging designers, magazine editors, App and Games Design.  As part of the course, you will enter international creative industry competitions and tackle many live briefs. Most recently students have produced a graphic novel and an online graphic novel for two museums and work for the BBC iWonder website and all year groups get to participate in an annual central London exhibition.

Gain specialist illustration skills

We ensure that you graduate from our course with the specialist skills you’ll need to approach agents, set up studios, and produce a website as you start on your career path. Many of our students go on to work in magazine publishing, editorial illustration, advertising, animation, and more. We have strong industry links with art and design employers. Industry partners sponsor final students as well as give visiting lectures while hundreds of agencies and organisations attend the final degree show each year.

Our course is unique in that as soon as possible, we will provide you with an individual workspace that you can treat as your own studio throughout your studies. Previous students have told us that this helped them with feeling creatively fulfilled. As part of your blended learning, you will also have access to our amazing workshops as illustration students often use the printmaking and digital media workshops, laser cutting and photographic studios.

In your second and third year, you'll have the opportunity to enter Creative Industry competitions such as the Macmillan's Children's Book Prize. Past graduates have won many yellow pencils in the D&AD while others have been shortlisted for the Folio Society and Macmillan children’s book prize.

Our BA Sociology with Psychology lets you study two social sciences that naturally complement each other. You'll get a well-rounded understanding of the major concepts and themes in both contemporary sociology and psychology – and how they relate to everyday life.

This degree offers a broad scope of study, giving you the opportunity to create your own course as you study all aspects of sports science. Studying a combination of sports and exercise sciences will give you a wide range of knowledge and understanding regarding scientific methods used in sports science.

The course is based in our modern facilities at Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, so you’ll have access to research labs, as well as conditioning and fitness suites during the 3 years of the programme, and when available to access if social distancing is in place. The equipment you can use includes the UK’s most advanced 3D motion analysis equipment and a DXA scanning body composition machine, plus many more.

Supporting athletes to perform
During this course you’ll develop the skills needed to support athletes to perform at their peak while reducing the risk of injury. You’ll develop your understanding of biomechanical and physiological theories, as well as your psychological skills.

You’ll integrate professional practice into your studies as you complete 50 hours of placements every year. This is a crucial opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge by working with athletes. The availability of placements is subject to cooperating organisations and we are working closely with our partners to ensure we have as many available as possible even during COVID-19. Due to COVID-19, the total number of placement hours required to pass the module may be altered under the guidance of the Accredited Professional Bodies or the University where applicable.

By graduation, you’ll be armed with the techniques and procedures needed to analyse and interpret human movement, physical fitness and well-being. A sports and exercise degree sets you up for a fulfilling career.

Our criminal justice degree approaches the subject from a theoretical, research-informed, and practice-based perspective. Middlesex University is the largest and foremost provider of environmental health education in the UK. This course is highly work-focused, with a strong emphasis on practical laboratory work and real-life case studies and you'll be able to take advantage of our close links within the industry.

The course is centred on UK law and practice, but is designed to be flexible and provide education and training that will be valuable internationally. You will have access to a range of excellent facilities include a microbiology laboratory and pestology materials.
