Our information systems degree gives you the skills, experience and expertise you need to succeed in the computer-based sector – and beyond. You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skill. Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more.

Build your information systems skills

You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.

We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

During the foundation year you will learn how computers are used by a broad range of people and organisations as well as acquiring fundamental software development skills and knowledge of hardware. You also gain relevant mathematical and statistical skills and develop useful communication skills.

BSc Computer Science

You’ll gain an understanding of the key principles of computer science while you develop your programming, system engineering, and project experience skills. Cardiac physiologists in hospitals deal with patients first-hand, meaning they need not only highly specialised knowledge and excellent analytical abilities but good people skills.

Our biomedical and biological science courses have a burgeoning international reputation, due to our world-class research in areas including biomarkers, public health and biomodelling. Our multi-disciplinary biomedical engineering course mixes engineering with biomedical science and physiology. This provides you with a solid understanding of the technological developments taking place in the fields of medical engineering and bioengineering.

You will build on your previous experience in applied mathematics, physics, or other sciences. During your course you will enhance your engineering knowledge and gain specialist skills which will help you to design and improve existing and emergent systems, devices and treatments.

If you are applying for our four-year MEng biomedical engineering degree, you will not only be able to gain an integrated masters qualification once you’ve completed the fourth year of the degree, you will also be able to receive student loan funding to cover your course fees.  Continuation on the MEng degree is subject to you achieving a good academic profile in years one and two.

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. Interior architecture degrees typically focus on the adaptation and remodelling of existing buildings, bringing together the practices of interior design and architecture in one. How you’ll develop your design skills

• During your studies, you’ll have access to our interior architecture and design studios, which are specifically designed to mirror the environment of a professional design studio. We have five studios to use by individuals and groups alike. The studios have Apple iMacs with an array of design software, a library of design and architecture books, and storage for your models.
• Our students are often involved with various, public-facing projects. In 2018, our Interior Architecture students collaborated on a project with Alexandra Palace, a historic entertainment complex in north London. In 2017, our students were challenged to create a pop-up exhibition space in King’s Cross with a brief that challenged them to consider materials, public movement, and the artistic work displayed.
• Learning also happens outside the studio and classroom. Our students go on field trips in London and abroad, where you can partake in collaborative projects with students from other universities.
• Graduates from this course gain valuable and transferable skills the creative industry is looking for. Many have gone on to work in specialist design studios and consultancies, in roles like interior designer, space planner, exhibition designer, and interior architect. It also opens doors to career paths in the environment sector, education, media, retail, and entertainment.

The Foundation Year in Business is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BA Business Management (Supply Chain and Logistics)
