For this English with Economics BA (Hons) degree, you will study a broad range of literature from 1550 to the present day, and focus on literary forms and how they have changed over time. In the Economics minor you will complement your study of English with an understanding of the structures that influence the cultures and societies that produce literature – as well as keep up quantitative skills, ensuring that you will be one of the most well-rounded graduates in the job market.

Our Economics with Politics & International Relations BSc (Hons) is designed to teach you how to think critically about how the world operates, with a particular focus on governments and political institutions within them. An advanced understanding of economics will give you key insights into political decision-making and policy. Contemporary International Relations (IR) faces two main challenges: the first relates to ecological sustainability and the second to digital spaces. Both challenges pose new power shifts, influences and organisational structures in an increasingly interconnected world. These challenges are often regarded separately, however they are both uniquely complex and multifaceted.

The MSc in Digital Politics and Sustainable Development is an interdisciplinary programme, looking at how these two challenges interact and the unique approaches to tackle them. Drawing on political science, political theory, philosophy, and computer science, you will explore the increasingly urgent phenomena of social activism, fake news, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and sustainability within a unique and compelling programme.

With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, you can choose one of Politics, Philosophy or History as your major, and will study the other two as joint minors. You will study six historical periods, from Roman Empire Britain through to modern America, as well as broader survey courses and the study of the historical discipline itself, and its applications and practices. For your Creative Writing minor, you will develop your writing in a variety of forms from poetry, scriptwriting, short stories to creative nonfiction, enabling you to communicate your legal arguments with clarity.

The Art History with English BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll have the opportunity to interpret moments of history as manifested in works of art from antiquity to the contemporary, originating from as diverse cultures as Europe, China, and North America. Survey courses are combined with more media-specific subjects, such as architecture, landscapes, painting, and in English, a range of literary forms and critical responses to them.
