Your Politics & International Relations with English BSc (Hons) will allow you to develop wide-ranging skills of analysis, which you will apply to government policies and literary and nonfiction texts. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these organisations work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. Develop your historical knowledge and your ability to communicate it effectively by exploring a broad range of historical periods from the Roman Empire through to present-day America in depth, while learning to write effectively in a diverse number of literary forms, from script-writing, immersive journalism, and short fiction to creative non-fiction.

Studying the History with Creative Writing BA (Hons), you will develop both your historical knowledge and your ability to communicate it effectively. The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The Art History with English BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll have the opportunity to interpret moments of history as manifested in works of art from antiquity to the contemporary, originating from as diverse cultures as Europe, China, and North America. Survey courses are combined with more media-specific subjects, such as architecture, landscapes, painting, and in English, a range of literary forms and critical responses to them.

The Philosophy with Law BA (Hons) will equip you to analyse and make arguments with clarity, rigour, and originality. The Philosophy major will give you the ability to engage with central questions, arguments, theories and texts concerning the world and our place within it. Your study of logic will be complemented by your Law minor, for which you will explore key issues in Law thematically. The diverse skills developed make graduates of Philosophy with Law highly employable in a variety of sectors.

The Combined Honours Law LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

The Law with Creative Writing LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. For your Creative Writing minor, you will develop your writing in a variety of forms from poetry, scriptwriting, short stories to creative nonfiction, enabling you to communicate your legal arguments with clarity.
