Overview
Choose the life-enriching pursuit of History, the sum of human experience and the study of the human condition. This endlessly fascinating subject demands analytical rigour, precision of thought, and the ability to communicate clearly. The BA (Hons) in History offers the study of a broad sweep of history. Our curriculum approaches the past in all its guises: economic, political, social, cultural and intellectual history.
You will study a diverse range of subject matters, from the Middle Ages to the modern day. You will study two survey courses; six increasingly focused period-specific courses, which encourage real intellectual depth; and one course reflecting on the nature of the discipline and equipping you with the skills to master it.
By choosing Art History as a minor you will have the opportunity to widen your view of history through the study of cultural artefacts, developing a greater understanding of the people and times that created them. You will develop critical skills in how to look, to think, and to present your ideas succinctly and persuasively.

Study political theory and political science, while examining governance, institution-building, decision-making and socio-cultural linkages among state and non-state sectors, while learning to communicate your knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms.
The Politics & International Relations with Creative Writing BSc (Hons) will not only equip you with knowledge of political institutions and their interactions but also with the ability to communicate that knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms. You’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other institutions. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these organizations work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. In your Creative Writing minor, you will hone your craft by writing poetry, scripts, creative non-fiction, and immersive journalism, amongst other forms.
