The Philosophy & Cognitive Science BA (Hons) will help you to develop a range of practical skills, from coding to critical thinking, that are increasingly desired by employers across all sectors – all while satisfying your intellectual curiosity.
The Philosophy & Cognitive Science BA (Hons) combines a major in Philosophy with dual minors in Data Science and Psychology.
Your major studies in Philosophy will investigate topics including ethics, logic, metaphysics, philosophy of the mind, and the philosophy of science. The Data Science minor explores the techniques underpinning artificial intelligence including coding in Python, machine learning, and natural language processing, as well as theoretical and practical issues surrounding AI and data ethics. The Psychology minor surveys fundamental principles, concepts, experiments, and issues in the major areas of contemporary scientific psychology. Together, these elements provide a very broad and deep foundation in the study of naturally and artificially intelligent systems, and teach the skills required for life and work in the 21st century.
Upon completion of the Philosophy & Cognitive Science BA (Hons), students will have acquired breadth and depth of knowledge of both human and machine intelligence and the behaviour it gives rise to, and have developed a wide range of highly desirable transferable skills.
