Through your Economics major, you will develop quantitative skills and study the structures which affect real-life decisions around the world. Through studying works of literature and their cultural and economic contexts for your English courses, you will develop excellent communication skills highly valued by employers.

The Politics & International Relations with Art History BSc (Hons) will provide you with knowledge of the kinds of institutions people live under, and how artists and culture have responded to those institutions. You’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing from where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other organisations. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these institutions work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. At the same time, you’ll take a survey course that will provide a broad overview of the history of European art, as well as studying more media-specific courses focusing on paintings, architecture, and so on. 

Study political theory and political science, while examining governance, institution-building, decision-making and socio-cultural linkages among state and non-state sectors, while learning to communicate your knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms.

Politics & International Relations with Data Science BSc (Hons) will not only equip you with knowledge of political institutions and their interactions but also with the ability to communicate that knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms. The Art History with Data Science BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression and hone your writing skills. The programme combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. Through your Data Science minor, you’ll be able to analyse data to effectively extract useful information.

The Philosophy & Cognitive Science BA (Hons) combines a major in Philosophy with dual minors in Data Science and Psychology.

Your major studies in Philosophy will investigate topics including ethics, logic, metaphysics, philosophy of the mind, and the philosophy of science. The Data Science minor explores the techniques underpinning artificial intelligence including coding in Python, machine learning, and natural language processing, as well as theoretical and practical issues surrounding AI and data ethics. The Psychology minor surveys fundamental principles, concepts, experiments, and issues in the major areas of contemporary scientific psychology. Together, these elements provide a very broad and deep foundation in the study of naturally and artificially intelligent systems, and teach the skills required for life and work in the 21st century.

Upon completion of the Philosophy & Cognitive Science BA (Hons), students will have acquired breadth and depth of knowledge of both human and machine intelligence and the behaviour it gives rise to, and have developed a wide range of highly desirable transferable skills.

Your study of the History with Politics & International Relations BA (Hons) will provide a full understanding of how people have lived, and how states have attempted to shape and influence those lives throughout history. You will study periods from the Roman Empire through to modern day America, drawing on complex and often contradictory sources. You will also take courses examining the practice and applications of the historical discipline itself. In the Politics & IR minor, you’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing their legitimacy to dictate over their subjects and how they interact with other organisations. 

The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The English with Data Science BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll take courses covering literature from 1550 to the present day, and you’ll explore forms of literature such as political speeches, the plays of Shakespeare, and responses to them.  For your Data Science minor, you’ll be able to analyse data and effectively extract useful information.
