Our Economics with Politics & International Relations BSc (Hons) is designed to teach you how to think critically about how the world operates, with a particular focus on governments and political institutions within them. An advanced understanding of economics will give you key insights into political decision-making and policy. Through your major, you will develop quantitative skills to understand and evaluate economic events and decisions in the real world. This will be complemented by your study of political theory, the organisation of government, and international relations for your minor.

Acquire knowledge and understanding of the human past and how people have organised their lives materially and conceptually as individuals and societies, and reflect critically on the complex and contradictory information available to us now about the past while learning to read and critique literature with greater understanding and enjoyment.

The English minor gives students the relevant conceptual tools, skills, and knowledge to read literature with greater understanding and enjoyment for the rest of their lives.

The English with Art History BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll take courses covering literature from 1550 to the present day, and you’ll explore forms of literature such as political speeches, the plays of Shakespeare, and responses to them.  For your Art History minor, you’ll study different forms of visual art in detail and their aesthetic and cultural contexts. These studies will allow you to make connections between art and the literature you study for your English major.

The Philosophy with Law BA (Hons) will equip you to analyse and make arguments with clarity, rigour, and originality. The Philosophy major will give you the ability to engage with central questions, arguments, theories and texts concerning the world and our place within it. Your study of logic will be complemented by your Law minor, for which you will explore key issues in Law thematically. The diverse skills developed make graduates of Philosophy with Law highly employable in a variety of sectors.

Your English with Creative Writing BA (Hons) will enable you to develop your skills in analysing and creating literature. You’ll take courses in literature from 1550 to the present, learning how writers have responded to their contexts, cultures, and the literature of their contemporaries. You’ll gain the tools and confidence to develop your creative responses to your cultural situation, and will find yourself approaching a diverse range of literary forms from both a critical and creative perspective.

The Combined Honours Law LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

The Law with Creative Writing LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. For your Creative Writing minor, you will develop your writing in a variety of forms from poetry, scriptwriting, short stories to creative nonfiction, enabling you to communicate your legal arguments with clarity.

The MSc Responsible Artificial Intelligence is a well-integrated programme of study with a targeted focus on both in theory and in application. Presupposing no background in computing, students are equipped with relevant knowledge and data programming skills, covering not only recent technical developments, but also broader ethical and theoretical considerations.

The option to study philosophical issues of AI whilst pursuing a Masters level computing degree is a unique offering in the UK, allowing students the opportunity to delve on the technical as well as the societal impact of data processing and, in particular, machine learning applications.

The programme allows students to progressively develop their understanding of the techniques of data science, machine learning, and natural language processing, alongside key concepts and methods of computer science, while honing their programming skills in Python and Java; and, at the same time, refine their thinking and communication skills, through humanities courses devoted to a consideration of key practical and theoretical issues, arising in connection with AI.

You will have the chance to develop your analytical skills and to apply them to a huge variety of subjects, from analysing poetry, scripts, fiction and nonfiction, to analysing quantitative data and human behaviours.

The combination of technical and analytical Economics training together with the study of Creative Writing gives students the ability to produce sophisticated economic thoughts and communicate them effectively and appropriately for different audiences.
