Studying the English with Law BA (Hons) will help you to analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner. You will study rhetoric, stylistics, and learn to compare different texts and other art forms. You will engage with literary criticism, as well as well as studying literature from 1550 to the present day. You’ll complement these studies with the both theoretical and applied nature of studying law, in which you will use your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.

The Law with Politics & International Relations LLB (Hons) is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

The Law with Politics & International Relations LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. Your Politics minor will enable you further to understand and analyse the relationship between the individual and the state, and the sources of state authority and forms of government.

The single honours Law LLB allows you to go into extra depth in the study of law. The Philosophy with Creative Writing BA (Hons) will teach you to write and analyse texts and arguments with clarity, rigour, and originality. The Philosophy major will give you the ability to engage with central questions, arguments, theories and texts concerning the world and our place within it. You’ll learn about the logic behind language and meaning, alongside studying topics such as ethics, metaphysics and aesthetics. The Creative Writing minor will enable you to express your philosophical judgements in a variety of forms, from short fiction to poetry to scriptwriting, as has been established practice in the history of philosophy. 

The Art History with Law BA (Hons) will allow you to follow your passion and prepare for your career. The Art History major gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The course combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. For your Law minor, you will study key issues in Law thematically, allowing you to develop commercial awareness highly valued by a range of employers.

With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, you can choose one of Philosophy, Politics or History as your major, and will study the other two as joint minors. The central aim of our PPH programme is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects.
