Our Economics with Law BSc (Hons) will provide you with a full understanding of the forces shaping the way we live. Studying Economics, you’ll engage with the structures that make for wealth and well-being, as well as learning the quantitative skills needed to engage with academic economics as commonly practised. In your Law studies, you will learn about the legal forces which constrain how individuals act, and which thus have an impact on the wider societal structures that you will study in Economics. 

With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, you can choose one of Politics, Philosophy or History as your major, and will study the other two as joint minors. The central aim of our PPH programme is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects.

Understand our world and our place in it by considering how humans ought to interact with each other and the world and exploring central philosophical arguments and questions throughout history, and how they create their institutions, and the different bases for state authority and legitimacy.

The Philosophy with Politics & International Relations BA (Hons) will help you to understand our world and our place in it. In Philosophy, you will consider how humans ought to interact with each other and the world and explore central philosophical arguments and questions throughout history. In the Politics & IR minor you will study how humans interact with each other, how they create their institutions, and the different bases societies find for state authority and legitimacy.

Develop quantitative skills and study the structures which affect real-life decisions around the world while looking closely at works of art, architecture and design, in order to understand their aesthetic, cultural, and economic contexts.

Through your Economics major, you will learn to develop quantitative skills and study the structures which affect real-life decisions around the world. Your Art History minor will complement your major by training you to look closely at works of art, architecture and design, and to understand their aesthetic, cultural, and economic contexts.

The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The Law with History LLB (Hons) is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

Your Law with History LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. Your History minor will further develop your skills of evaluating evidence. In acquiring knowledge of the past, you will reflect critically on the complex and often contradictory information about history that is available to us now.

Attain your Qualifying Law Degree, plus study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, and complete a three-year immersive professional development programme to give you the skills and behaviours you’ll need to pursue a career in Law.

The single honours Law LLB allows you to go into extra depth in the study of law. In addition to the courses required for the Qualifying Law Degree, you will study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Through these courses, you will, amongst other things, learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, as well as discovering discrimination law and workers’ rights. Combine your degree with a three-year immersive professional development programme to give you the skills and behaviours you’ll need to pursue a career in Law.

Learn how English law is created, interpreted and developed while covering a range of areas such as criminal law, public law and contract law.

Learn how English law is created, interpreted and developed while covering a range of areas such as criminal law, public law and contract law. Complement these studies with the Psychology minor to consider the philosophical and ethical issues relating to individual differences in social behaviours, attitudes and feelings, while exploring the biological, cognitive, and psychosocial areas of contemporary scientific psychology.

This undergraduate degree equips you with the communications, critical thinking social behaviour expertise that are transferable not only to a career in the legal profession, but also to a wide range of public and private sectors, including marketing, communications, civil service and business.

The Philosophy with Art History BA will help you bring a clarity and rigour to your thinking about topics such as morality, metaphysics, and art. Particularly of interest for you will be the third year philosophy course in Aesthetics – studying the philosophy of beauty and the philosophy of art, ranging from Plato’s claim that we should rid ourselves of all poets to Hegel and Arthur Danto’s assertion that art has ended. You will also, in your minor, study particular artistic media, such as painting, ceramics and architecture.

Learn how people have lived, and how states have attempted to shape and influence those lives throughout history from the Roman Empire through to modern day America. Examine the practice and applications of history, and compare political institutions of different countries, analysing their legitimacy to dictate over their subjects. 

Your study of the History with Politics & International Relations BA (Hons) will provide a full understanding of how people have lived, and how states have attempted to shape and influence those lives throughout history. You will study periods from the Roman Empire through to modern day America, drawing on complex and often contradictory sources. You will also take courses examining the practice and applications of the historical discipline itself. In the Politics & IR minor, you’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing their legitimacy to dictate over their subjects and how they interact with other organisations.
