Our Biomedical Genetics MSci Honours degree focuses on developing your scientific and experimental skills and equips you with the advanced knowledge you'll need to ensure you graduate fully prepared for your rewarding career in science.

You'll follow the same modules as students on our Biomedical Genetics BSc course, but in your additional fourth year, you'll undertake an extended laboratory-based research project and study modules offered by our research institutes. Immerse yourself in the study of the Greek and Roman world on this three-year Classical Studies BA Honours degree. You'll focus on developing your knowledge of how ancient societies thought about and presented their world through culture.

Exploring everything from literature, history and art, to science, architecture and religion, you'll learn about the impact Classical tradition has had on Western civilisation. You'll also learn about the range of approaches available to study it.

Alongside core modules in Greek and Roman literature, you'll explore a variety of topics, including Greek and Roman religion, slavery in Greco-Roman Antiquity, the life and afterlife of Alexander the Great, and the ‘reception’ of the Greek and Roman past in modern cinema.

Our Classics and Ancient History master's builds and expands on your previous studies. You can specialise in either classics or ancient history.

The course is primarily designed for students who have studied ancient history, classics or classical studies as their first degree.

Classics and ancient history at Newcastle has a long and distinguished reputation for its research and teaching. We've taught Latin and Greek since 1874, ancient history since 1910, and classical archaeology since 1931.

You can choose to study one of two pathways: Classics or Ancient History.

If you're interested in classics, you'll study literatures, languages and cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome at an advanced level.

If you specialise in ancient history, you'll focus on the histories, societies and cultures of:

• Archaic and Classical Greece
• Rome
• The wider Mediterranean world

You'll develop your own research interests and professional skills.

All our degrees focus on three core areas – pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics – and you have the flexibility to tailor the combination of these to suit your interests.

On this degree, you will select modules evenly across both mathematics and statistics. These include:

You can also choose optional modules linked to the research expertise of our staff and learn about the latest developments in the discipline, such as advanced hydrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and Bayesian inference.

BSc or MMath?
We offer our degrees at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees
• Four-year Master of Mathematics (MMath) or Master of Mathematics and Statistics (MMathStat) degrees

Our four-year degrees are more in-depth and include:

• Advanced topics and a wider choice of modules
• A specialist study, tailored to your own interests, that develops your skills in research and communication
• More technical skills, for those who wish to enhance their employability or proceed to postgraduate study

Transfer between the two levels is possible up until the middle of Stage 3.

To qualify for Stages 3 and 4 of the MMath/MMathStat degree, you must normally have obtained at least an upper-second-class average mark in Stages 2 and 3.

This LLM Law can be taken as a standalone course before undertaking PhD study.

It also forms the initial training component for the four-year (LLM plus PhD) ESRC Northern Ireland/ North East (NINE) Doctoral Training Centre.

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a cross-disciplinary practice in the field of computing. It combines understanding people (drawing on social sciences and psychology) with the design of technology (using practices from art/design, computing and engineering).

You'll be suitable for this Human-Computer Interaction master's if you’re from technical and non-technical backgrounds, including:
