You will address key challenges of today including:

• Loss of marine biodiversity

You’ll explore all marine life, from the invertebrates, fish, seabirds and marine mammals to plants, algae and bacteria. You’ll also investigate the chemical and physical properties of the world’s oceans and their impact on marine life.

This degree follow the same programme as our Environmental Sciences BSc Honours degree but includes a year's work placement.

Topics cover a wide range of subjects, from plant biology and ecology, to sustainability and environmental law.

Biology and geography are an important part of this degree, to help you to understand the processes within ecosystems and how we can manage our natural resources effectively.

You will also study chemistry, physics and geology as applied to the study of the environment.

You'll learn about the role of social and economic factors, ethics and public perception in environmental management.

Between Stages 2 and 3 you take a year-long work placement in a relevant environmental sector. This gives you the chance to put your learning into practise and gain valuable work experience, helping you stand out in the graduate job market.

BSc or MEnvSci?
Some of our degrees are offered at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc)
• Four-year Master in Environmental Science (MEnvSci)

Our MEnvSci degrees include an additional year of advanced study at master’s level, where you will gain additional research and practical experience to increase your employability and have the opportunity to work alongside our world-leading experts.

This accredited, Electrical and Electronic Engineering integrated master's degree focuses on developing your core knowledge and practical skills. You'll also explore more advanced specialist topics in your fourth year, so you're prepared for a career in this fast-paced industry.

With a focus on practical work and research-informed teaching, you'll cover the core aspects of the generation, distribution, storage, and conversion of electrical power.

You'll also have the opportunity to work on a real-world engineering project with an industry partner, so you gain an insight into the sector, develop industry contacts and enhance your CV.

While establishing a firm foundation of electrical and electronic engineering knowledge, you'll become a confident expert in more specialist topics, through optional modules such as: nano-electronic devices and national-scale electricity networks.

All our degrees focus on three core areas – pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics – and you have the flexibility to tailor the combination of these to suit your interests.

On this degree, you will select modules evenly across both mathematics and statistics. These include:

• Complex variable
• Statistical inference
• Foundations of probability

You can also choose optional modules linked to the research expertise of our staff and learn about the latest developments in the discipline, such as advanced hydrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and Bayesian inference.

BSc or MMath?
We offer our degrees at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees
• Four-year Master of Mathematics (MMath) or Master of Mathematics and Statistics (MMathStat) degrees

Our four-year degrees are more in-depth and include:

• Advanced topics and a wider choice of modules
• A specialist study, tailored to your own interests, that develops your skills in research and communication
• More technical skills, for those who wish to enhance their employability or proceed to postgraduate study

Transfer between the two levels is possible up until the middle of Stage 3.

To qualify for Stages 3 and 4 of the MMath/MMathStat degree, you must normally have obtained at least an upper-second-class average mark in Stages 2 and 3.

This accredited four-year degree provides training in key and emerging topics such as cyber security, data science and bioinformatics. This ensures you graduate prepared to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

You'll be based in the truly inspiring Urban Sciences Building, and study at a world-leading centre in computing innovation and industry collaboration.

By studying a broad curriculum in your first two years, you'll develop knowledge in different aspects of computing science, and gain highly desirable skills in problem solving, program design and implementation.

From your third year you can specialise in a particular area of computer science or build your own broad based degree.

In Stage 4 you can choose master's-level modules from the MSc in Advanced Computer Science. You'll receive comprehensive research training to help develop your skills in computer and information systems.

This unique four-year fine art degree focuses on developing your professional, practical and theoretical skills alongside your own exciting body of work. You'll graduate ready for a career in the field or progression to postgraduate study.

About Security and Resilience
Graduates of our degrees in Security and Resilience will have particular knowledge and skills related to the development of dependable software systems.

Armed with knowledge of issues such as security mechanisms for computing, software verification techniques and tools, cryptography, and cryptographic protocols, you will be well placed for employment in technical positions in software houses and with companies designing and deploying dependable software in safety-critical industry sectors.

This degree explores how the ancients thought about and presented their world in literary texts and material culture, and the impact of this on Western civilisation.

You'll develop core skills in reading, translating, analysing and interpreting a diverse range of Greek and Latin texts. You'll also learn how to relate them to their historical and literary context.

Each year, you'll spend one-third of your time studying Latin, and a third studying Greek. Alongside this, you can pursue areas of personal interest to you in the literary field and beyond – including history, philosophy, and material culture.

Health Services Research MSc is part of the Population Health Sciences Institute. We lead high-impact research to:
