All our degrees focus on three core areas – pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics – and you have the flexibility to tailor the combination of these to suit your interests.

On this degree, you will select mostly mathematics modules in the later stages. These include:

• Introduction to vector calculus

• Algebra and linear algebra

BSc or MMath?

You will study a range of modules spanning our expertise in architecture, urban design, social and political theory. You'll also select from modules in history and sociology, urban planning and informal housing and development, and social enterprise, economics and business.

Your understanding of how architecture and cities can be developed will be supported through design projects, historical examples and theoretical ideas.

This master's in Planning and Environment Research will suit those looking to specialise in environmental or landscape planning research.

The course will prepare you for a PhD in the field of environmental/ landscape planning. It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to pursue a research career. Meng
This MEng degree includes an additional year of master's-level study which will deepen your knowledge.

Our MEng degrees are also a direct route to becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). You don’t need to study any more qualifications after your degree to work towards chartered status.

Our Biomedical Genetics MSci Honours degree focuses on developing your scientific and experimental skills and equips you with the advanced knowledge you'll need to ensure you graduate fully prepared for your rewarding career in science.

We are a National Centre of Excellence in biomedical research and you will be taught by our world-leading and expert staff, so you will graduate with a cutting-edge knowledge of the industry.

You'll follow the same modules as students on our Biomedical Genetics BSc course, but in your additional fourth year, you'll undertake an extended laboratory-based research project and study modules offered by our research institutes. You spend two-thirds of your time studying mathematics and statistics, and one-third studying topics in accountancy and corporate finance in Newcastle University Business School.
