Our courses are ideal for students seeking to gain or enhance a high level of health research skills. They combine a range of high-standard health services research methods. This is with the principles of public health science and practice.

This three-year joint honours degree focuses on developing your skills and abilities to critically analyse historical and political topics. You'll graduate as a confident independent learner with a specialist knowledge in areas of interest to you.

You'll be able to follow your own path, choosing to study modules which are closely related, or cast your net wide, studying topics that span six continents.

You’ll study in a research-led environment, alongside scholars at the forefront of their fields. You'll also improve your research skills, completing a range of research projects during your degree.

In history, you'll explore themes including revolution, slavery, radicalism, medical history, and religion across a variety of periods, geographies and cultures. In politics, you'll look at global politics, political philosophy and international relations.

All our degrees focus on three core areas – pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics – and you have the flexibility to tailor the combination of these to suit your interests.

On this degree, you will select modules evenly across both mathematics and statistics. These include:

• Complex variable
• Statistical inference
• Foundations of probability

You can also choose optional modules linked to the research expertise of our staff and learn about the latest developments in the discipline, such as advanced hydrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and Bayesian inference.

BSc or MMath?
We offer our degrees at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees
• Four-year Master of Mathematics (MMath) or Master of Mathematics and Statistics (MMathStat) degrees

Our four-year degrees are more in-depth and include:

• Advanced topics and a wider choice of modules
• A specialist study, tailored to your own interests, that develops your skills in research and communication
• More technical skills, for those who wish to enhance their employability or proceed to postgraduate study

Transfer between the two levels is possible up until the middle of Stage 3.

To qualify for Stages 3 and 4 of the MMath/MMathStat degree, you must normally have obtained at least an upper-second-class average mark in Stages 2 and 3.

Our chemical engineering degrees focus on developing your knowledge and practical skills on topics across the discipline, so you're equipped to embark on an exciting career as a chemical engineer.

This three-year food and human nutrition degree focuses on developing your practical, professional and research skills so you graduate career-ready.

Our industry-recognised qualification helps to fast-track your career, so you can apply for direct entry into the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists as soon as you graduate.
