Our course is well established internationally. We've been educating museum professionals since 1993. We encourage a hands-on approach, involving major input from museum professionals regionally, nationally and internationally. These professionals range from small, independent museums to those who curate national collections and internationally significant exhibitions.

The MA in Museum Studies is part of the School of Arts and Cultures and is taught by staff in Media, Culture and Heritage. Media, Culture and Heritage is a thriving, high-profile interdisciplinary research community. It is made up of postgraduate research students and experienced academic researchers who are key figures in their fields.

This three-year Politics and Economics degree will give you the intellectual capacity to recognise, understand and anticipate the way that political and economic forces combine to shape our everyday lives.

You will study at both the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology and the Business School, tapping into their combined expertise, networks, support, careers advice and facilities, and becoming part of two flourishing student communities.

Your studies will be split 50:50 between politics and economics, with each helping to inform your understanding of the other. The course also has a strong mathematical component to help you master the unique quantitative requirements of the economic discipline.

The course covers the intricate politics, institutions, law and policies of the European Union. The international and global political context in which the EU operates is also addressed.

As a student on this European Union Studies master's you'll develop knowledge of three central themes:

• Public policy in the EU
• The EU as an international actor

This foundation year will help you build the base knowledge you need to progress to any of our electrical and electronic engineering BEng degrees.

This is a full-time programme of study covering core electrical and electronic engineering topics, including:

• Foundation mathematics
• Applied mechanics
• Material science

All our degrees focus on three core areas – pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics – and you have the flexibility to tailor the combination of these to suit your interests.

On this degree, you will select modules evenly across both mathematics and statistics. These include:

• Complex variable
• Statistical inference
• Foundations of probability

You can also choose optional modules linked to the research expertise of our staff and learn about the latest developments in the discipline, such as advanced hydrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and Bayesian inference.

BSc or MMath?
We offer our degrees at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees
• Four-year Master of Mathematics (MMath) or Master of Mathematics and Statistics (MMathStat) degrees

Our four-year degrees are more in-depth and include:

• Advanced topics and a wider choice of modules
• A specialist study, tailored to your own interests, that develops your skills in research and communication
• More technical skills, for those who wish to enhance their employability or proceed to postgraduate study

Transfer between the two levels is possible up until the middle of Stage 3.

To qualify for Stages 3 and 4 of the MMath/MMathStat degree, you must normally have obtained at least an upper-second-class average mark in Stages 2 and 3.

You can choose to spend 12 months working in any organisation in the world, and receive University support from our dedicated team to secure your dream placement. Work placements take place between stages 2 and 3.

You'll gain first-hand experience of working in the sector, putting your learning into practice and developing your professional expertise.

If you choose to take a work placement, it will extend your degree by a year. Placements are subject to availability.

Study abroad

Experience life in another country by choosing to study abroad as part of your degree. You’ll be encouraged to embrace fun and challenging experiences, make connections with new communities and graduate as a globally aware professional, ready for your future.

You may choose to spend a year abroad as part of your degree in one of our partner institutions.

Alternatively, you may apply to spend Stage 2 studying economics at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands for a year.

This International Politics master's investigates central issues of global justice. This includes:
