Placement Year

As an MPhys student, you can choose to undertake a research placement in the final year of the course. You’ll spend six months (July to December) working in a research organisation of international standing, before returning to the University for the final semester. We have links with leading research organisations, including CERN, NTT Basic Research Laboratories (Japan), European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (France) and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Understand the foundations of aerospace engineering science and explore the latest thinking in aircraft design and manufacture.

The first two years of this course give you a detailed understanding of core mechanical engineering principles. You’ll learn how to use mathematics and computing to assess engineering systems, and develop knowledge in design and manufacturing processes.

You’ll study aircraft performance, control and structures, aerodynamics, propulsion and helicopter aerodynamics. Lectures are balanced with laboratory work to give you the skills you need to build, analyze and test a product. Transcending geographical binaries of Global North and South, you will consider areas of complementarity and trade-off between economic development, human wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

This specialist master’s combines skills and knowledge of international development with an in-depth focus on social justice, wellbeing and sustainability. As part of this MSc, you will gain an up-to-date knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, including research. Year abroad

On this course you'll combine a work placement with studying at a university overseas. Broaden your horizons and experience another culture whilst studying a course that complements your studies at Bath.

Study abroad locations include the National University of Singapore and Stellenbosch University (South Africa), as well as others. We seek to further expand on these. Study abroad opportunities are limited and are subject to availability at our partner institutions.
