The University of Bradford and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust have joined together to offer a Harrogate Pathway with the aim to recruit locally and therefore develop a sustainable workforce.

This pathway may be of interest to local people with commitments in the area, especially more mature applicants with dependants who may find traveling further afield difficult.

By providing all but one of the practice placements within the Trust we are offering a long term relationship to students. This is also reflected within our commitment agreement.

The pathway is advantageous to the Trust as newly registered practitioners who have followed the pathway will be familiar with the Trust policies and processes as well as having developed working relationships with existing staff.

Mechanical Engineering is the most versatile of the engineering disciplines and there exists a high and growing demand from industry for graduate Mechanical Engineers.

Our accredited degree will place you at the heart of modern industry, providing career opportunities in sectors such as:

• Aerospace, automotive and rail
• Energy and power generation
• Manufacturing engineering; product design, materials, production and processing.

You’ll combine mechanics, materials science, thermofluids and computational methods to design, analyse and implement complex systems which are economic, reliable, efficient and sustainable.

Throughout the degree you’ll put theory into practice through a range of individual and group projects. For instance, year 1 will see you take part in three projects using your skills to design, build and test real mechanical devices.

You will have the opportunity to participate in the Formula Student competition, working with other students to design and build a single-seater racing car.

This three-year Virtual and Augmented Reality degree programme is one of the first of its kind in the UK.

The course has is part of Screen Yorkshire’s Connected Campus initiative and is carefully structured to equip students with the most up-to-date knowledge, skills and experience required by industry.

Guided by knowledgeable industry active staff such as Carlton Reeve (a consultant for commercial AR games) and Peter Chapman (who runs his own digital agency), you’ll learn advanced techniques such as:

Gain the skills you need for a career working with children and families in this three-year, full-time BA (Hons) programme.

You’ll develop a firm understanding of policy and legislative issues, and get the hands-on practical experience you need to be an effective practitioner.

You’ll study topics such as:

• Legislation relating to education, child protection and health
• Roles and responsibilities of agencies
• Multi-agency working
• Communicating with children through play, art, and role play

This programme prepares you for a career in the criminal justice sector - in the criminal justice system or in the wider field of offending behaviour.

You’ll benefit from high quality criminology teaching, and also build a strong understanding of the social psychology behind criminal justice and offending behaviour.

You’ll gain invaluable experience of working in the criminal justice sector; our Sociology and Criminology Division has strong links with industry, business and related socio-legal professions meaning you’ll benefit from unique placement opportunities.

Heritage has widespread meaning; past, present and future narratives are interwoven with both physical features (landscapes, buildings, structures, monuments and objects), and more intangible practices based on oral traditions and living memory that enliven and enrich cultural experience (stories, traditions, crafts, food, dance, music and poetry).

The programme will span local, regional and global heritage, investigating new methods, and the value of heritage and for contemporary society across many cultural contexts. The programme is at the forefront of initiatives that recognise the importance of heritage and culture to future social cohesion and economic success by building a meaningful understanding of our diverse pasts.

In addition to vocational skills, studying Heritage and Archaeology will give you a broad range of transferable skills including problem solving, team working, and independent research, preparing you for a wide variety of careers, future study and research. This degree is at the cutting edge of development theory, policy and management. It provides students with the critical and analytical skills to enable them to operate effectively in international development environments. Covering macro and micro level perspectives, the course offers rich insights into the challenges of contemporary development theory, policy and management. The course is structured around the compulsory core modules of International Development Theory and International Development Policy, with flexibility built in through the optional course units chosen by students to meet their own objectives and interests.

The objectives of the course are to provide an integrated, cross-disciplinary framework for the postgraduate study of development. The unifying focus of the course is the analysis of strategies for overcoming poverty. Students will gain knowledge of different development paradigms and an awareness of their evolution. Students are encouraged to develop comparative perspectives (between different regions/countries, disciplinary approaches, schools of thought) and through individual study, seminars and written assignments to develop their knowledge and critical and analytical skills in this field.

This full-time Master's programme will deepen your technical ability, broaden your understanding of other branches of engineering, and enhance your research skills.

It is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and develops leadership and managerial strengths that can lead to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
