As a University of Bradford chemistry student, you will have choice and flexibility in your degree. During the first two years, you will develop a sound understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry with core content delivered across the traditional areas of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. 

The third year will introduce you to specialist content in medicinal, materials and analytical chemistry. You will also have the opportunity to study a specific subject by choosing to a greater depth during an extended dissertation.

Develop the skills you need for a career as a clinical technologist, capable of applying your knowledge to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. You will learn:

• to design and manufacture medical equipment
• tissue engineering and wound repair for making artificial organs
• application, repair and maintenance of medical devices
• to carry out physiological measurements, such as ECG, EMG, BMI, spirometry and skin analysis

This course develops skills in core biomedical, chemical and forensic sciences, helping you become a skilled forensic practitioner.

The emphasis is on biosciences, and then shifts towards disease processes and forensic investigation of physical evidence types.

In addition to the pursuit of core sciences, you will study forensic investigation in anthropology and topics relating to archaeology - including the degradation of human remains and physical materials - which will develop your skills in forensic interpretation. The final year develops your professional skills through a forensic research dissertation.

The course prepares you for a wide range of careers, including those in the professional medical and forensic sectors because of its broad basis and application.

You will be introduced to the creative and technical aspects of single camera and multi-camera filmmaking and television production, supported by film and media theory to inform your practice. And you will learn how to generate and develop ideas and adopt a creative approach to your work.

During the second and third years of the course, there are a range of specialist options available to enable you to explore your own areas of interest. There is also the option to study abroad at a partner university or to do a placement in industry on the four-year version of the course.

In your final year you will undertake a major bespoke production project, where you will be able to collaborate with other disciplines and put your learning into practice, whilst showcasing your expertise developed through the course.

On successful completion you will automatically gain associate level of CIPD professional membership which will entitle you to use ‘Associate CIPD’ after your name. All students are required to join the CIPD as a student member within one month of commencing the course, and for successful graduates the CIPD joining fee and first-year membership fee are paid by the University as an additional benefit for our students.

The Master’s Finance and Investment places an emphasis on specialist areas within finance including undertaking financial investments, financial modelling, mathematical finance and financial management roles within mainstream financial firms.
